okay, this seems not so much "nostalgia" as alex is obviously a current racing driver (without a drive).......but ten or twenty years ahead he will feature several of threads here. this then may depend on his success in indy cars, but to me - and i think many others - it will always depend on his optimism, behaviour and comeback after that germany-indy-race. so at least a young guy, i think he is already one of the greatest contenders the sport has ever seen........and so i feel not guilty to post some pics here which i took at oschersleben in 2005.

the scene there reminded me of paul ricard 86, when i managed to get into the paddock right after nigel crossed the line. in oschersleben i was able to go there way before the race and i had the opportunity of beeing in the pits, listen to what what happened there, had some talk with drivers....all those stuff. it was exciting. real exciting for a 47year-old racing boy.

i spent the whole race in the zanardi-box and nobody pointed at me and forced me to leave. they had something else to do. and he won! i danced with some italians after he crossed the line.......this was a very special moment. very special. so here three pics from prior to the race. as mr. will smith uses to say. HE is a legend.

My wife and I named our son, who was born in 2007, after Alex, due to the strength and courage he has shown since his accident.

What a hero, to recover and race again. Attachments to the floor.

I'd put my wife right there, though, massive stroke with 45% brain damage and climbing mountains again....

Remember that incredible TV appearance, where he walked onto the stage just a very short time after losing both legs?

An incredible man, a real inspiration...

Have to agree with you Ray. I read his biography a couple of months ago, truly inspirational stuff.
I have been a huge fan since I watched his amazing pass on the corkscrew at Laguna.

Much along the Villeneuve vein, that pass was a prime example of sheer will overcoming EVERYTHING.

We see now that it translated into everything else he is.
