Antena 3 has to bid for the rights since its merge with La Sexta won´t be complete until March at least.

Antena 3´s idea was to honor the contract La Sexta has, although they were not totalyy convinced of how profitable F1 is, but now there are some possibilities, they might get the rights bidding for them, they might have just found the best way to avoid that contract or they might retain them if no one bids for them and decide in the future what to do with them.

Everything is possible.

Tele5 might has chance to hit Antena 3 hard in here, they already have MotoGP and 2012 Football Eurocup, which also means they spent an awful lot of money already.

It´s going to be interesting, i only hope we don´t lose the broadcast to a pay platform.

10 days to go.

So what I've understood is that apparently La Sexta could pay for F1 since a point of the contract with FOM was to prove they could pay, and all this was done just for Antena 3 to be able to air F1, since the merger Antena 3 - La Sexta wouldn't be complete until March and the contract doesn't allow to transfer the rights like that.

SPAIN might lose open TV broadcasting

La Sexta can't pay 45M euro fee to Bernie and gave up to broadcast the 2012 season.

Don't panic, it's just a change of TV channel and btw it has to be open TV broadcasting.

That is what Mediaset/Telecinco thinks, and it could be very well true.

I just think La Sexta can´t afford it anymore, Antena 3 doesn´t want F1 so bad to make such a move, in fact they only reason they could end up bidding for the rights is because Mediaset will do so.

Rights are something like 40 million euros, it´s being said F1 is profitable only until 15 million.

I read if no one bids La Sexta will retain them and broadcast F1...

Telecinco won´t bid for the F1 rights, they think the process is not trasparent enough.

http://www.as.com/mo...dasdasmot_5/Tes

So now is Antena 3 or nothing i guess.

Apparently, as expected, Antena 3 is going to broadcast F1 in 2012 and 2013, they made a bid for 40 millions per year, nearly the amount La Sexta was paying.

Also one of La Sexta main directors has said whoever buys Formula 1 should retain Lobato and his team.

This was really a set up to move the rights from La Sexta to Antena 3.

It's a dodgy/fixed over dinner deal IMO. 40 million euro's in a buyers market, is very high. Especially when there were hardly any players in the market, capable of buying the rights. :well:

It was just money transfer within the same company, not a real buy of the rights.

And TV3, catalan television, is not such an improvement over La Sexta. Yeah, there are no commercials, but Josep Lluis Merlos has been branded by a my friends as "Il Divo" 'cause he seems to think that HE is the star in the show rather than the guys driving at the racetrack.

Completely agree. And Francesc Rosés is a shameless and unscrupulous fanatic of Alonso.

I do hope is really HD, i mean, La Sexta did broadcast F1 in HD, also La Liga games, they don´t broacast HD 24h a day, but they do with some stuff, Antena 3 HD channel doesn´t broadcast in native HD, not a single second.

I´m spanish and here in Spain a lot of people dislike Lobato, and the worst thing, because of him (and his "team") dislike Alonso.

Lobato is rubbish (the same for all his team including Nira Juanco and the others... what they know about F1??? Nothing!). Gené is always saying how amazing is Fernando and the only one was really amazing is Pedro. However I prefer see him doing liek he wants to do because he´s a nice person!

However now in Antena 3 will be the same story, Lobato and his team saying how good is RB car, how RB made favours to Vettel (however they shut up their mouths when Ferrari favours Alonso) and how amazing is his driver Alonso. As I said a lot of people dislike him.

One of the best commentators in Spain is Carlos Castellá. With him the F1 in Spain could have a very good level, instead of those ones. A really shame...

Jacobo????

He´s a Vettel hater (envy) just as the others. He´s only for Alonso, Alonso, Alonso, Alonso, Alonso ... and in Spain nobody knows him. Lobato is known for the spanish people and a lot of people dislikes Alonso because of him.

P.D. Tomás Roncero es el puto amo !!! Hala Madrid !!! :p

Today's commentaries were pretty bad. "On board with a Williams" when it was a Sauber, "a Lotus has stopped at the main straight" no, it was Petrov's Caterham, when they showed the replay of Perez overtaking Massa "We don't know what they're trying to show us here"--- And FFS someone has to tell Lobato that Vergne is not pronounced "Vernier"!!!

Sorry, I think you´re too sensible on that matter to comment  He´s clearly the only half-fair guy with the rivals.

Anyway, as they said, the comments of these guys are just poor. Especially when it comes to racing.

I find this Jacobo guy pretty decent. As far as Lobato goes..... let´s put it this way: ever since I listen to him, my admiration for Alonso grows. Only a super driver with a massive amount of concentration could be this fast and this constant with such a large piece of Lobato´s tongue stuck up his crapper throughout the race.

That´s your feeling. However I know what Jacobo said and write and as I said, he´s a Vettel hater, however he tries to descredit him "with respect". On 2010 was the guy who wrote and insisted RB damaged Webber, same as on 2011, in every pole he alwas said "the car is perfect, Vettel did no corrections". He´s an Alonso fan like the others however he use another words, pretending to be "unbiased". However he has the same poor level as the others and in Spain nobody knows him.

I´ve always watched the races on french tv (where TF1 was) and the difference is day over night. Simply we can´t compare. :cat:

P.D.: I´ll always remember Singapore race where Jacobo and Lobato was trying to descredit his victory (and his pole) talking about the car and about what easy... and Pedro de la Rosa was even angry with them and said he´s an amazing driver and they can´t descredit him like they were trying, was there where Pedro recog. Vettel´s driving style is the best controlling the rear and at the same time saving his tyres (while the others were like  ) Some info. obviously the poor commentators they didn´t know. Pedro proved the class and the pure view of a F1 driver between some fans with a micro.

P.D. 2: It will continue the same. After Melbourne Q3, Lobato was very excited and happy because Vettel was 6th and behind team mate... what we can expect from a "tv crew" that 2 years ago RB did not let them entry on his "WDC Vettel party" (even them they knew all the rubbish La Sexta against RB and Seb). I don´t want people or teams thinks they represent all spanish people.

P.D.3: First they hated Kimi, then Schumacher, then Hamilton and now Vettel... casually?

Well, confusing a Sauber with a Williams was also ridiculous (and they, included Gene, discovered that it was Kobayashi and not Maldonado, just because his name appeared on the screen).

Gené is awful. His only words are "Lo de Alonso es increíble" ("Alonso is incredible")... and the thing always surprised during his comments is he seems to unknow a lot of things about his team.

The only time I´ve heard (and read) him talking good about Seb was when he said in his opinion Seb is the fastest driver over one lap and the most similar driver he saw qualifiying since Ayrton Senna he ever watched. That´s all.

Agree.

Yesterday during the race Lobato said about one driver between two drivers of the same team: "he´s inside a sandwich, being attacked from the front and front behind".

However I will always remember those ones, in Spain are very, very, very famous. In fact a lot of people unknow F1 but know those ones: (was on T5 and with Gonzalo Serrano...)

"SANGANCHAO EN LA PUZOLANA" (they even made a song about...)

http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

"RIDÍCULO ASOMBROSO, PIFIA MONUMENTAL" ("awesome ridiculous, biggest mistake")

http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

"VETTEL, VETTEL... EL MUNDIAL !!! LA MALDICIÓN DE HAMILTON" ("Vettel, Vettel... the WDC !!! The Hamilton ´s curse")

Yup. Jacobo tries to be fair, and sometimes I have seen (or heard) him lose the patience with Lobato.

I remember last year, during the first race with two DRS zones, Lobato arguing "the, in the second zone, the overtaken can use his DRS to recover his position" and Jacobo "No, he can't because there is only one detection spot". Half an hour later Lobato "Will that driver use the DRS in the second zone?" Jacobo "No, he can't because there is only one detection point!", another half an hour later Lobato "With two zones, the second one can recover the position..." Jacobo "NO, HE CAN'T!"

That was Vettel, that was attacking Hamilton fiercely from the front. :rotfl:

I remember another historical one from Serrano & Lobato, when Kimi did a lap in qualifying, going over the curbs and the grass and the comments were "Very bad! Disastrous! He has lost a lot of time!"... and then he got the pole position. Somebody should explain to them that you need to push the limits to get the best result.

I am from Spain, and I love the way Antonio Lobato comments the races. He makes a lot of mistakes, but he is not the F1 expert, he is the director of the broadcast, something a lot of people forget. And he is, with all the logic in the world, very supportive of Alonso, something that a lot of people can't stand.

I also like Jacobo Vega, and I think Marc Gene is way better than De La Rosa.

Had to watch once a race live at BBC, and you cannot imagine how I missed Lobato. While technically and in resources very good, in BBC it was all so aseptic, even boring, Brundle wouldn't even raise his voice when an incident happened. James Allen was much better at that, even if he wasn't appreciated by his home crowd. But I think it's probably just cultural differences.

...I can not agree with that, the way A Lobato comment the races is like only Fernando was driving there, it is a total lack of respect for the audience as not everybody in Spain is in love with Fernando and people like to know how the rest of the grid is doing...comments about Fernando rivals are quite slum dweller...i consider we are lucky in Cataluña as we can watch the races in the Catalan channel...and sorry but Gene way better than Pedro can not buy it...

I don't think in Catalonia it's better, there are people like Villadelprat, who has the same magnitude but opposite direction in Alonso's matters. And you have also Roses, that well... better I show with a video: :p

Edit: About Gené, he started better than Pedro, but now he's worse, his most used sentence is "now... this, I didn't expect".

The focus is on Alonso but they paid attention to the other drivers, there is no "he ignores the rest of the filed", maybe you want him to talk more about the guys that are not racing for the victory or/and Alonso, but your statement it's false.

In fact spitting on his current closest rival makes up for 50% of the coverage, 75% of it if we talk about FP coverage.

According to Lobato's twitter, Gené to SKY was a Ferrari decision.

Gené is quite good, but Pedro is.... da best!

So this tv-job is a Ferrari contract, they (Ferrari) choose what tv their drivers work on, and the tv station ask Ferrari "hey Stefano, send me one of your guys here". So Fisichella is useless even for italian tv, Sky has to hire one of their spaniards, they come in the Ferrari-package deal (same applies for Antena3)

y lo de James Allen hacéroslo mirar junto con lo de Lobato

So Fisichella is useless even for italian tv, Sky has to hire one of their spaniards, they come in the Ferrari-package deal (same applies for Antena3)

y lo de James Allen hacéroslo mirar junto con lo de Lobato

Not that many, i was thinking that as well but according to wikipedia he did 5 races in 2010, 5 races in 2011, 5 races in 2012.

Anyway, Gené will keep on working with Antena 3, not especifically during races but before and after.

The talk is about Dani Clos or even Jaime Alguersari replacing Gené, i´m not sure i would enjoy any of them, Dani is too, let´s say, funny, and Jaime a bit presumptuous.

I would love Pedro being there, but apparently his new tasks at Ferrari makes it very unlikely..
