Welcome to the hot (or not!) mess that is F1 Pools - the 2010 edition (this time with even more hideous colour schemes)!
New season, new teams, new winners(?) - old kismet, old game rules, old and new (hopefully) participants. If you've been here before, you know how this works. If you haven't, you can find out by clicking THIS THING RIGHT HERE!!! Yes, that. Clickity click! It directs you to my 2009 season opener post that contains the game rules. I'm afraid the presentation continues to be as messy as ever but I'm linguistically stunted and can't seem to clean it up. But the whole thing really is a lot clearer than it may appear at first glance. Really. So be a (wo)man, not a mouse, and dive right in! I want you! I need you! I dare you! And challenge you! And beg, if necessary. And overdose on exclamation marks!!!
As it happens, I haven't put any deep thought into picking meaningful duels for round 1. My usual MO is to consult the WCC standings from the year before and basically just proceed from top to bottom but this time that proved a bit problematic as some teams have gone belly up while others have either reinvented themselves or shown up from nowhere. So if some duel choices seem a bit off, it's because I've used FIA's official entry list as my guide - hence the Sauber boys trying to deflower virgins etc. Enjoy!
Will the usual suspects continue to rule the roost? Or will someone spring a surprise? And, for the love of doG, what kind of a team name is HRT? Seriously?!? I know what it stands for but couldn't they come up with something a bit more interesting? Not that there's anything wrong with not being interesting. Here are the duels for Bahrain:
Qualifying: Race:
1. McLaren - Mercedes GP 7. McLaren - Mercedes GP
2. Red Bull - Ferrari 8. Red Bull - Ferrari
3. Williams - Renault 9. Williams - Renault
4. Force India - Toro Rosso 10. Force India - Toro Rosso
5. Lotus - HRT 11. Lotus - HRT
6. BMW Sauber - Virgin 12. BMW Sauber - Virgin
Post your guesses before the start of qualifying.
I'm not really picky about the format you choose to use but something along the lines of 'XXX 12X 22X 12X' would be great. But as long as it's clear what you mean, it's OK.
So, guess away! Good luck!
