"Come on! Come on!" If only we could be the difference when we yell at the tv screen, urging fate to give our favourites their due. Given that power, whose fate would you protect or raise to their full potential?

I want Massa to be the last man standing. Never before and never again, just this once. And to win it in Brazil.

There's only 20 options. I dropped Algersuari, Chandhok, Glock and di Grassi. Was I right?

I usually don't take sides, but this time I am quite torn. Because of the all German Mercedes team, I am hoping that Ferrari wins (an all Latin team). But because Schumacher is the old man and many people are hoping that he is humiliated, I am rooting for him...

Rubens for me. With Kimi gone & Nick relegated to 'testing', my choice for favorite drivers has been severely limited.

I'm a Macca fan, don't care much about drivers i'll support whoever sits in a McLaren. I haven't had a driver i'd really could cheer for since Hakkinen.

With the abscense of Kimi, it's hard to say. Neither McLaren or Ferrari driver that is clear. Not Schumacher. Rosberg means nothing to me.

Maybe out of the strong teams I'd wish good luck for Vettel. Of course I also hope good luck for Kovalainen, but it will be arough ride.

Hamilton and Schumacher are the antichrist for me so I will follow their doings with interest and wish bad luck.

My favorite was always Kimi Raikkonen - it will be odd that he is not around. Last season, Vettel/Red Bull curried my interest, so they remain of most interest to me this season too - in terms of winning. I think like many, I willl have Alonso, Hammy, Schumi, and Button on radar - curious as to what they might do this year. The two Nicos will also be on radar - and I will be curiously watching Bruno Senna as I suspect many others will as well.

Kimi is gone, so I voted for Hamilton. I was surprised by how much he's leading the poll. But when I think about it, he IS a straightforward guy. There's the liegate which many like to use against him but beyond that, he really is a nice guy.

I'm surprised so many are voting for Lewis Hamilton.

I was always under the impression that, rather like Schumacher, the masses would have to "accept" him over 5-10 years rather than embrace him after only 3.

His supporters don't seem to shout nearly as loud as his detractors.

In the interest of a close WCC I'd have to say Button. He will need all the help he can get to keep up with Hammy. Think I'll give it to Kobi though. I'd like the kid to be the surprise of the year!

I'm surprised that with so many British people here, the amount Hamilton is leading Button in this poll is striking.

I'll never look at this board the same way again. :p

Yes, that surprised me as well seltaeb. Perhaps the feeling on this forum is different to the feeling of the public in this country, because at a guess I'd say most people I've talked to about F1 who only watch it occassionally prefer JB over LH.

Has always been so. I've always said so. His detractors/haters, whatever you want to call them, are very vocal but not necessarily in the majority. I think that was the reason why James Allen wasn't invited to commentate at the BBC and we have the dreadful Legard - just because of the haters writing into the BBC.

You only have to look at Hamilton's FaceBook page to see how truly popular he is and internationally so.

Also a lot of Hamfans are tired of entering into the same arguments again and again in order to defend him, so just sigh and bow out because it is energy wasted. We know the score, so let it be.

At Silverstone, apparently from what I read on forums, there was much more support for Hamilton despite Button leading the championship. I think the British media like to make out that Button is the popular easy going one, and Hamilton the uneasy unpopular one, but Hamilton actually got more votes when he was runner up for BBC SPOTY than Button did. The perceived reality is not so real, just like the tyres situation.

Couldn't agree more. I for one was always content with James Allen as a commentator and am put to sleep with Legard's droning and lack of enthusiasm. I remember a couple of years ago getting a few tapes of recorded GPs from the 80s and 90s out, with Murray Walker commentating on, and while watching them I realised that, dare I say it, Allen was actually a lot better than Walker.

Exactly. He was great with Brundle, and even with Blundell and Rider. The whole team were great. Really seamless and professional and enthusiastic. But because he enthused about a new British racer who was contesting the championship for 2 years in a row, the opposition hotted up. Allen speaks about this on his blog recently. When he was replaced, I said "you lot will regret it" to howls of disagreement. Hmmm.

Anyway, sorry, strayed off topic.
