I have a signed copy of Hugh Conway's Grand Prix Bugatti. I assume a special edition as it's been bound in blue leather by the publisher.

I'm sure some of the experts might be able to shed some light on who signed this book.

So far I have identified 7 signatures.

Hugh Conway - Book author
Jack "Lemon" Burton - Bugatti dealer
AF "Rivers" Fletcher - Driver
L.J.Roy Taylor - President BOC
John Jervois Virr - Driver
Godfrey Eaton - Author and founder of Ferrari Owners club.

Any information or history on those who I have identified or of the other signatures would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing that this book was probably signed at some book launch, maybe at Prescott or a Bugatti meeting somewhere.

Bottom left looks like Eric Giles, brother of Col Godfrey Giles who, together, purchased Prescott on behalf of the Bugatti Owners' Club in 1937. Col Giles was chairman of the BOC and Eric was Hon. Secretary.

Below J Lemon Burton, Peter Hampton, doyen of early car collectors and Bugatti enthusiast and one of the founders of the Bugatti Trust, and co-author of "The Bugatti Book".

Below Bernard Kain, Bob Roberts, Bugatti enthusiast, collector, and founder of the Midlands Motor Museum and one-time owner of a Type 59.

Below Bob Roberts, John Willis, motoring historian and long-time commentator at VSCC meetings

Below Rivers Fletcher, David Good, hillclimb ace and former RAC hillclimb champion.

Not sure how many of them may have had roles within the Bugatti Owners' Club at one time or another.

I am intrigued to know who owns the signature below Godfrey Eaton.

I had been entering names in a search engine using "Bugatti" as a tag and didn't get very far. So your research has really helped me out. Half of the signatures I can't even read, so you've both done a much better than me!

Another one for you Matt: Jack Perkins - Bugatti owner and racer. He owned a number of Bugattis including a 35B (chassis 4863) and a report on its sale records:

It was bought back by Jack Lawrence in 1941 and owned for a period immediately after the war by E.V. Buck who in turn sold it to Jack Perkins. The car, which was then light green in color, was registered for road use with the registration number HUE 939 on 7 March 1949 but was nevertheless only rarely used. In 1974 it was acquired by well-known Bugatti personality and Midland Motor Museum proprietor T.A. (Bob) Roberts and underwent a thorough four-year overhaul by the leading English Bugatti experts, Messrs. Crosthwaite and Gardiner
