a video with 2010 cars finally!

and in the rain:

Impressive light rendering and sound, also the physics of the driver movement. They also got the colors right.

Contrast the excitement level to yet-another GT5 video:

http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

Pristine clean cars, sunny weather, abandoned fake tracks and rally cars racing each other (someone at Polyphony really doesn't get rallying).

AWESOME!!!! :stoned: :smoking:

Does anyone know if it is possible to save replays of fastest lap (time trail) or/and part of the races?

Well they're totally different games. It's a losing battle to even begin to compare the two really.

The one thing that is really annoying me in the videos is the racing line arrows. WHY?! What was wrong with just a single line that changed colour?

What about no line and the use of your brain to figure out how to drive on a racing track...

The driving looks terrible, and incidents that should happen don't happen. I hope it's all due to settings.

It has the potential to actually be a great F1 game. It looks awesome, the car movements due to traction etc. are awesome (from what I've seen from the AI). I'm looking forward to a video with simulation settings (or however far this game goes) with a good driver behind the wheel. Yes, wheel, I doubt the drivers in these video's actually used them.

Looks like they're using the directional buttons to control the car, let alone the analogue sticks.

I think the wheels move left-right too fast and the steering wheel too, it doesn't look right. It looked much more realistic in F1:CE, but again this may be due to settings/driving style/using the directional buttons instead of a racing wheel or analogue sticks.

The definite problem with this game's graphics is that the wheel snaps back to its dead centre way too fast it just looks unrealistic

you beat me to it. I also simply don't get the follow-behind view of driving.

The E3 demo is set on all arcade. According to the interviews, there will be multiple settings to range form full sim to full arcade.

I wonder if the used the new PS3 Move if they could detect knee position for the McLaren F-duct? :p

its a demo! they've only just got the 2010 cars, and i doubt they were really bothered about updating the number of cars for a demo at e3

i think the xbox 360 kinect would do a better job of that! :p

They wouldn't be allowed to do that anyway as they have some sort of agreement.

I didn't even notice that yet. Hope they make it realistic, with a growing crowd over a racing weekend.

Ah! And to be able to throw your helmet at them after the race. Live the life, right? :D

Yeah, that does explain a lot more.

I'm also bit worried about the engine sounds watching this. The engine doesn't seem right. AI seems great though. Graphics are awesome.

The graphics and effects are impressive but Ill wait to try it with a wheel before judging the physics. I hope the AI is on 'easy peasy' in that clip, to be able to lead a GP being completely offline and with that that amount of understeer and driving with a D-Pad looks pretty poor IMO.

I'm praying that this game will handle nicely. If so then everything else will fall into place, that's my only real worry about it. If it's good then I reckon I won't bother with GT5 when it comes out, but rather just wait till christmas for it.

I am very much a snob when it comes to racing sims and am suspicious that Codemasters will produce a PC version which is too much of a game.
Hope I am wrong.

It runs on the Dirt 2 engine. It's not awful, but the game is very feature packed, so it isn't sim physics based, more sim gameplay. And just won't drive aswell as GT5 or Forza.

And those are realistic? :p .

I know they said it won't be modable, but us modders will figure it out. If the game has crap physics, one of us will fix it eventually. That's just the inevitable.

Really, you don't like the GT5 videos? Check this one:

I dunno if you like playing GT/driving in real life, but I am of the opinion that the Gran Turismo series does the best job of romanticizing racing. The videos especially give a feeling of what racing is all about.

Thanks for that.

I'm very interested in this game. Could become the first game I'd buy in years. It all looks fabulous. They really thought everything through. Except... handling, I'm afraid. In this video again, I see cars wobbling and faltering through corners and it just seems terrible to drive. Hope I'm wrong.

Ant's comments about turn 8 at Spa was a bit of a let down. "Every car understeers there so we could get that into the game" doesn't make it sound like the game is based on a very good physics engine.

Hope I'm wrong though.

Codemaster devs:

"In a lot of games it is hard enough to stay on the circuit, this game will be more balanced." "More about racecraft than how do I negotiate that next corner." :well:

Tyre marbles and graining will be simulated though which is a major plus. Flatspotting as well.

Well, it does understeer there. So he's right on that. It's just that the physics shouldn't be based on that, it should be right itself which makes the cars understeer there.

My main worry is seeing the Williams at 2 minutes 11 into the video. That just... no words.

for sure, we havent seen a video yet where they havent used assists, they've shown the menu many times and they've always had 1 or 2 assists on at least!

Anyway, graphics look great, atmosphere awesome. It should be a really good game, but I might need to get a PS style controller for the Xbox!

There was a feature on YouTube by a sim racing site where they asked the devs to rate the game's realism (on its most realistic settings) on a scale of 1-10, 10 being iRacing/rFactor level (games that the devs play a lot).

Their response was 8, which sounds good to me :)

EDIT: http://www.insidesim...videos/view/100 I believe this is the one

Just keep in mind that the devs want to push their product so it might be somewhat biased. I think it will be quite good however, just maybe not an 8. I think a 7 would be where I would keep my expectations... ;)

In fact no they aren't, Codemasters originally said they would be, even showing some scans of Spa at one point, but they later stated that the laser scanning had been ditched.

"Laser Scanned Track Data – Considered early on in the project we assessed for our needs and decided against its inclusion in favour of other features. Our track creation pipeline has been further developed and we’re now capable of producing extremely authentic environments, track surfaces included, without the need for this data."
