If you want realism get in a car on a track!

Or try iRacing. :)

Did you ever playing the game?

You're assuming I haven't judging by the tone in your comment, I'm currently half way through my second season. I won the WDC in my first year, in the Lotus and I am now racing for Torro Rosso!

The only thing about the game that annoys me in the game is the racing line penalties like cutting the corner after Lowes hairpin, they did it in reality but you have your lap disallowed in the game!

So you did moan? But then what's with...

...
Read some of the bitching and moaning, it's just a game, abit of fun! If you want realism get in a car on a track!

So now you understand why they bitch and moan about this game..

Found this.. sure it's been discussed before:

http://www.eurogamer...alks-up-f1-2011

CM already writing hype cheques regarding F12011. Question is.. who will trust they can cash them?

"You're not going to see us on the next one just add a couple more tracks and a couple more drivers because it's the F1 2011 version," CEO Rod Cousens promised.

hmmm.;) I'll believe it when I see it.

I believe them. You don't see Codies resting on their laurels with their other racing titles (just look at the evolution of DiRT to DiRT 2, and now the 3rd) and I think these guys really do care about making the game the best it can be. They've nailed the weather system so only minor tweaks are needed there I imagine. Making the AI more challenging at the higher difficulty levels is a must, as it's far too easy to win, especially in the lower cars.

I think the graphics and overall look of the game are superb, but perhaps Codemasters could up the vividness a bit. Every racing game they do has this strange filter that dulls a lot of the scenery.

Really, I am expecting an expansion and improvement on everything they started in F1 2010. They have made a superb game from the off, and that should bode well for future editions.

Ok I'm gonna have a moan!!!!

Just raced at silverstone on a 50% race, I kinda fell asleep towards the end and lost my mojo and kept spinning and lost my 30 second lead and dropped to 6th. That didn't bug me too much, but when I crossed the finish line and I'd WON THE RACE, despite it showing Alonso as the winner before I'd crossed the finish line!

It also said I'd lapped the field!!?

Any ideas or similar experiences?

In September Eurogamer exclusively revealed that Codemasters had begin work on the next instalment in the F1 franchise.

I did chuckle when I saw that, I'll exclusively reveal that F1 2012 will be in production within months ;)

I hope to be meeting the developers in the coming months and that blur thing has got to go along with the bumping on the in-car cam. But it's good to know just how much Codies are monitoring the feedback and acting upon it, F1 is made by a very passionate team and I'm looking forward to future installments.

Jimjimjeroo:

Okay, so next race, off to Valencia. I am running in 14th after my pitstops, brake to late for the first corner and lose a lot of places having to reverse.

So I am in 19th, with Senna 20th crossing the finishing line, or am I? The results show Senna won and lapped the entire field.

No more career mode for me, two races in a row ruined by bugs.

&

So on to Montreal. Being a track where the opposition isnt ridiculous fast (catalunya..) I had a good qualifying lap putting me fourth on the grid. In the race I stay in fourth till lap 7 of 21, make my pitstop and return on primes. I spin at l'Epingle and get passed by Kubica, and some other guys who still had to pit of course have overtaken me too now.

So on to the last four laps, I am in eighth with Schumacher on my tail. On my way to my first points finish, I get nervous, but I hold on to eighth, with Schumacher on my tail... only to see the results show me in ninth with Schumacher winning who has lapped the whole field...

WTF!!!

I am seriously close to giving up on career mode now; it is horrible that results shown do not reflect actual race results. That is just crap.

Cheers for that, I've googles it too seems pretty common it's a shame really was pretty disappointed was the first time I'd done a race that long, id had peculiar results before where I'd won the the race and lapped the field didnt really give it too much thought as I had actually won, but this time I hadn't

Wonder if Codemasters will actually do anything!?

I dont give a toss about the new features they add.

I'll be pleased with F1 2011 if it actually works as an F1 game as 2010 certainly never did for me.

Even thinking about the game and the things that annoyed me, the stupid bloody kerb thing for example... bah. I should trade it in so im not tempted.

I agree that some of the kerbs are too slippy, and it's especially frustrating in Time Trial, when you've nailed a lap up to a point, confidence is rising, and you try and take a bit too much kerb in a corner in the final sector. Slap, bang, wallop you've spun.

You can take all kerbs at Hockeheim with impunity. But with Korea there is far too much punity.

I agree they have to remove the canned spin on kerbs. its stupid and has no place in a game that actually has a decent physics model. I mean why add them? what do they do but piss players off?

You have to be so careful at the hairpin there though (Hockenheim). Another one for horrible kerbs I find is Singapore.

I'll ease-off throttle on entry, and hit the throttle on exit.

Works pretty well to me.

I can certainly appreciate what some poeple have been saying about the quality of racing in open lobbies. It's the same across the board so not confined to F1 2010 sadly.
I am running a FULL 2011 F1 series through my webiste this year. There's a fair bit of interest already and due to the nature of the participants, fair and decent racing is assured.
If anyone is interested in the TORA GPWC 2011 then have a butchers at http://toraonlinerac...forumotion.net/ for more info.
We are MSA affiliated too so if that doesn't say something about our standards I don't knwo what does ;)

Same here, if they had just done a proper job without the bugs in 2010, it would have been the best console racer.

I got GT5 for Christmas and compared to F12010, GT5 is utter shyte in my opinion. THAT is an arcade game. 1000 people have a hissy fit about the fact that no 3rd sector time is shown in F12010, whereas in GT5, the entire Championship standings screen is omitted and nobody says a word. I guess that's because the demographics of the 2 games players are vastly different...

I suffered through GT5 for a few weeks. It was just as poorly completed as F12010, and they took so long to finish it, most car models are out of date, and most models are incomplete. The bug fixes came once a a week. Sold it.

GT5 players like the game because it has shiny cars and it is EASY. Single most boring game ever. It's a unique mind set that enjoys a game where half of it is watching hands-off replays for hours on end.

As for the physics..sigh, I doubt the Lambo Muira had traction control and anti-lock. Racing is fake, on fake tracks, fake classes, even the "real" tracks are too wide and too smooth.

I finished my third full season by skipping practice and qualifying at Abu Dhabi and then straightlining the chicane at turns 5/6 thus disqualifying myself from the race

Glutton for punishment.

This game is so frustrating, and it has different bugs on different platforms.

I'm finally in a Red Bull and leading the championship ...then magically at Silverstone I'm 3 seconds off the pace of Vettel. I think there is a big fuel load bug.

At Spa, I'm fastest again, but after a win, the results put me at 14th. WTF. Now, I'm getting fired , despite leading the WDC.

Meh.

Never had any real trouble with the game myself after 7 seasons :p

But i agree they need to make the AI more equal at each track, and have a harder level. Winning the championship 6 times on the hardest level says you need to go up a level, but you cant. :(

Spa, montreal and singapore are also too easy -.- & the races in the rain are too easy as well, have qualified 10 seconds quicker than the AI before :/

F1 2011 will be out September 23.

It will be interesting to see just how much new stuff will be in it. I mean it's clearly going to be just an expansion of the original game, but I wonder if they'll make any major changes to the AI etc.

I'm fairly sure they will... They have a good base to work from, and any changes that are needed can be prioritised seeing as they've most of the basics nailed.

You would hope so. They've really just got to design the new car models, fairly straight forward.. design a new track.. again not a huge task and then they'll be free to fine tune and add features. You would think it's can't possibly go wrong but we'll see.

If you use the PC version you can't be without the AI update made by a bunch of programmers and testers. You can find it at 'race department' (google it) and the file is called something like AI toolkit.

It pretty much eliminates the areas where the AI suddenly slow down for no good reason . I tweaked some of the AI files myself too and now Melbourne is a serious test. Best I've managed so far is to put it on 10th on the grid and get up to 5th in the race driving the Red Bull. Previously I could win it with a Renault.
