You actually think MS had the pace of Rosberg today? :rotfl:

has looked that way all race so far if nico thought he had the pace he would have undercut schumacher or stayed out longer on one of the stints but he didnt

Yeah, I'm just being a nervous fan!!

The key to this race for me today was Petov. I'd need to see the start again, but it looked to me that Nico got busy racing Petrov through turns 2 and 3 and thet let Schumi get round the outside of Nico. Once in front he had the optimum race strategy call and was able to pit first, covering off the undercut. All he had to do then was keep it out in front and soak up the pressure.

Great to see Michael put in a strong performance. There is nothing between those guys here except Michael got a great start and made it work.

So, to all the guys that like to hang around here and bash Schumi. Should Rosberg retire now, because he is so slooooooow? Or has Michael had some car troubles that have affected quali and actually he is matching a very talented and much younger driver on pace, thus earning his slot in a solid upper midfield team? Answers on a post card

Its not even possible for Michael to ever even be as fast as Rosberg let alone faster. Once again he had no pace and just was a roadblock to his team mate all race. He really should retire, it should be obvious to even him he has nothing left.

so why didnt rosberg pit early or stay out longer? he was within a second at pretty much every stop and could easily have tried if he thought he had the pace...

He can beat Rosberg today fair and square. With a solid if unspectacular performance. Good race from Micheal.

How many chances did Rosberg have to show his "faster" pace and do some good laps and overtake Michael in the pits? Too bad it didn't happen.

Unbelievable. You couldn't make it up. Michael is in the 4th best car on the grid, finishes 6th ahead of his team mate and this is proof that he needs to retire?

The amount of posts like this just make it impossible to have a reasonable debate on here.

And if Rosberg was so much faster he should have passed Michael. Its not like he didn't have the use of DRS over Michael.

Good race for Michael, ncie and enjoyable, and thankfully spent most of the race racing with proper drivers and not the GP2 rambos at the back. Good stuff.

Mercedes have a LONG way to go, though.

Sadly predictable that the trolls are only going to say NR was faster and MS just held him up all day.

Don't recall them saying the same when the roles were reversed in Suzuka last year.

Here's to a Frans less few days

Its just ridiculous. I'm happy to agree that Nico generally has a pace advantage over Schumi. Where I feel Nico needs to improve is his race craft a little (I'll take this over to the Nico Schumi thread but won't get a much better response).

So as a Schumi fan I'm happy to have a sensible debate about it.

BUT! I think Nico is a great driver, very talented and much younger than Schumi. And look, Schumi beat him in FP3 and some of the Qs so he is hardly slow. Who on the grid in a car below the Mercedes would definately beat Nico? Sutil? Petrov? I don't think so. Probably not Massa either. is di Resta after 5 races proven to take that seat before he learns his trade? No. So who exactly deserves the seat ahead of Schumi meaning after that race performance he HAS to retire? Its just pathetic and impossible to have a decent debate with so many nonsense posts.

I'm not sure I see the correlation with Nico being an idiot and the difficulty of overtaking on this track.

Rosberg & MSC were like for like, maybe Schumi slightly faster, but yet again a supreme start from Schumacher and solid race throughout without any drama. Did well to fend off a Rosberg attack with the pits, 6th place the maximum that could be achieved with Alonso comfortably faster.

This is not the first time in racing history where a faster guy finishes behind a slower guy, because they just couldnt get past. It is as simple as that. Nico was faster, MS was better because he finished in front. Does that satisfy your fanboyism?

Does anybody on the grid start better than Michael? I think not! Great result today, a master class in defensive driving and did you hear the silence from DC and Brundle on the BBC commentary? Remember last race when they outright said he didn't know how to defend because "he's never been challenged in his career".........yeah.

Birelman, you're just a shit-stirring troll.

You have no interest in MS, so **** off and go love up your favorite driver.

I don't see a huge celebration here, I see a satisfaction that MS maximized his chance and got the best result available for the team, holding off his teammate on the way. He did all that could reasonably be expected of him today given the car is clearly 4th best on the grid.

So, to sum it up: MSC had a great start, ROS kept his position.
MSC got the "look after the tyres message" from radio.
MSC stayed ahead, ROS seemed to catch him.
ROS was able to use DRS practically every lap being less than a second behind MSC, but never got past.
After pitstops MSC was still ahead, by quite some margin.
ROS made up the margin, but his tyres seemed to go off sooner than MSC.

Conclusion: MSC was preserving tyres, ROS was all-out. That might be why there was the "Nico - Radio?" pit sign on.

MSC won this race over ROS at the start.

Reduced to celebrating qualifying in 4th? No, celebrating a great drive.
