Yes they did. They said 'wunderbar' at one point.

OK, nothing compared to what they would say had he had a bad race. They haven't mentioned him since the finish (though i did go to the toilet for a minute, so can't be 100% sure)

Impressive. Disappointed for him. I trust this meets with your approval.

 It is fair from them then.

Hugely disappointed that Schu didn't get a podium. Big shame.

Its the damn DRS. Placement like Turkey was a joke.

Soooooooo cloooooooooooooooooose.

Still, I'm so happy. Michael is back.

He was always there tbh. This tyre eating dog of a car is a distortion: take this race, before the track was drying up he and vettel were trading fastest laps. As the track became drier and drier the lap times werent increasing at the same rate.

Masterful race by Schumi! He was amazing today, very much the Michael of old. Very disappointed that he missed out on the podium but I'm savoring his drive even so.Hope this is the start of the turnaround!!

If they had started the race a bit earlier, and I really think the safety car was out for too long, what was the point for wet tyres? I think Mercedes was robbed of a podium and everyone else who had wet tyres and set to gain, Mercedes needed about 10 laps more of wet running, and the safety car was out for at least 4-5 laps too long after the red flag situation.

The race was started when intermediates was needed, I don't agree with that, and it cost MS in the end, but at the same time, it might of dried out earlier and MS would of been eaten up earlier by button/redbull,

But either way, I think in Spain/Monaco and Canada Schumacher has shown enough that convinces me along with some races last year like Spa/Suzuka/Monaco/Turkey that he's strong enough to compete amongst the main players and all that is missing is Mercedes building a winning car.

Great race for MS especially as it's one of the most watched races of the season, good for his sponsors. :smoking:

I think when it comes down to it, MS did everything he could this weekend, the rain and safety cars was out of his control, and its buys him enough blocks to drown some critics for a bit.

I can't name the sector, but the sector where MS was nailing it and getting it right on the edge of kerbs to get some distance from Webber, that comes the most proof of that ambition for higher results.

So glad for Schumi, was shouting at the TV when he was in second hoping he could maybe have a lunge at Vettel! Pity he wasn't in Button's position. Still, really nice to see him up there in 4th.

Then don't make statements as if fact. Eddie Jordan commented positively after the race. In fact overall, they said a lot about Schumie that was positive.

Great drive, some nice overtaking by the old man. Made me finally watch (and enjoy) a race again all the way through, instead of just watching the first few laps and then reading the race report on the web afterwards. Shame about DRS, I am sure he could have defended until the end of the race at least against Webber and taken a podium without that silly turbo boost mode. But as soon as DRS was enabled, Webber and Button just sailed past.

Michael! Michael! Michael! Seriously that was some excellent racing today by the man! Yeah the DRS and the race winner with 6 pit stops somewhat reflects the absurdness of modern F1 but hey they all have to live with these rules so whatever. I'm happy for MS big time!!!

He is a top defensive driver so without DRS who knows what would of happened. i think even 2nd was possible still. Sadly with DRS defensive skills dont matter to much.

As said in another thread. I felt sick for the last 15 laps. Very, very impressive. Probably driver of the day, if not button? Best defender, joint if not best overtaker, as good (relative) race pace to top drivers - only not as good in qualifying. He's undoubtably still awesome.

What I think is that the way F1 is these days, absolutely everything has to fall into place and click for a driver to have a good weekend/race' in Michael's case today that was only partly the case, the hopeless DRS passing and the shot tyres handicapped him at the very end, overall the fact that this race was run in mixed conditions did help a bit. Nonetheless, that opportunistic move on Massa and Kobayashi and the passes on the Renaults/ Webber were just superb, this is not at all a case of the race coming to him, he made a ton of places up on merit and thoroughly deserves his 4th place.

So while I think MS finally had a chance to show what he's still capable of at 42, it's not a case of him having suddenly found speed or something: it's always been there, problems race after race during qualifying and sheer bad luck at the races has just dented his campaign massively. If things click at some race later on this season, expect to see yet another masterful drive. If they don't, it'll be business as usual, BUT hopefully without any of the annoying bad luck he's had since his comeback.

 He's back for sure, and giving his quali lost drive problem on saturday among other car issues this year, when things are working, the potential is confirmed, the turkey race he was pissed because he knew he was capable of more, yence his dissapointment in the race result,

Spain always consistently strong there, even last year
Monaco his best qualifying position, race stopped with car issue, last year robbed of points
Canada quali strong plus lost drive, and the race today speaks for itself.

Ditto, great feeling to be back battle at the front. Jenson had a few scuffles but over came them... I'd still give Schumacher driver of the day ;)

Sad he missed the podium at last, it was a great perfomance though!
I kept jumping up n down the house watching him get up to second, then i was actually watching the time, was hoping we d reach the 2hours limit
In the changeable conditions the car had pace, but after changing into dry tires it was obvious that MW and JB had the upper hand cuz of the machinery..
add DRS into that..

Anyway, apart from that, i believe race control should reconsider the laps they keep the SC in, imo they ve become way too soft

What BBC said about his driving?

Well they threw a couple of good words, EJ at least admitted he would have liked to have him on the podium
And except from the press conference they showed MS's interview, although it was too short, as if it was cut..

Mercedes could do with more rain races to make up for the lack of race consistency. The rainmaster stuff was there today, I was a bit concerned giving no one's done wet running, but the pace of MS in qualifying despite problems and Monaco showed me he's turned a key.

And I also think in terms of rear tyre wear, MS was handeling that better then Rosberg in Monaco, at least in terms of damage limitation,

All in all much more better from MS and Mercedes since the start of the year, he's patient and calm in some of the more tricky weekends, combined with experience, having chit chats, laid back then going out and setting fastest laps, enjoying being a driver and the driving himself,

Good points for Mercedes with renault scoring less.

Showed he still had that killer instinct today. When the raw pace of all cars was negated today by a slippery track we saw Schumacher putting in amazing laps and for all those who questioned his commitment to push the limits of the car since he return look at how far he took it to the edge today in terms of brushing past the walls.

Give him a car capable of winning and he will win. If the track had not dried as it did today he'd have won that race IMO.

Great stuff from MS for sure. He really can't do much down the straight and you knew he could only hold off Mark and Jenson for so long. Had some fantastic laps there and showed without any doubt that he can still hang with the big boys. His confidence will be sky high and I look for him to feed off of that and have some great gp's for the remainder of the season. Button was in his own world today.

Classic race all round and a great race for Schumacher, I practically don't care if he finished fourth or second. Great set of laps when the track was drying and everyone was on inters, cool under pressure with a single tiny mistake when Webber got past, and at last clean and fair defending all the way. I think he's had his ego get the better of him in some of his dumber defensive moves since the comeback, but today was all dignity and class. I was so excited for him towards the end, nice to feel these signs of life from my inner fanboy. :rotfl:

The old fox still has it, he was massive in the wet part. In the dry well ... the car is shit, plus the DRS zone was a bit silly, but it was nice to see Schuey still has it in him to mix it up at the front

When he was on the inters and a dry line was just emerging, the way he was driving gave me goosebumps and reminded me of a very long time ago. Michael was back with a bang today!!

I hope he got the 'big joy' from this one!!!

Well even though i am a huge fan of MS, i doubt it mattered after all.
The last safety car caused by Heidfeld would have closed any gap anyway.. That was what eliminated the obvious chances for a podium.
It was not possible to keep the bulls and JB behind while on dries, maybe there would just be a chance they would all come together trying to pass each other hehe

His 7 championships did physiological obviously.
