The heart is still there

adamcooperf1 #F1 Walked down quiet pitlane an hour or so before FP3, only driver I saw in a garage, and already working away, was Schumacher
adamcooperf1 #F1 Michael was examining front of car, talking to engineers and mechanics, doing his homework. Impressive as ever...

The heart may still be there but the ability is not

LOL, at 42 there is enough ability for 9th and Q3. Tomorrow he have chance to take 8th in WDC. Not bad. Some of the drivers will never even have his ability at 42.

There is chance for rain tomorrow, 50 %.

Barrichello is not much younger and he's coping well with a young talented teammate in Maldonado, so the age excuse is not cutting it I'm afraid, plus schumacher is the so called greatest of all time and barrichello is an also ran

Im sure it still is there the problem is with the very limited testing you can't develop things as fast as he used to be able to do at Ferrari.

He hasnt lost the abilty to pinpoint a problem and translate it to the engineers but a cure takes a lot longer these days in F1.

Yeah Rossi is rubbish.

 I know you don't mean that, but your comment is far from wrong. The parallels are eye catching. Rossi and Schumacher have their reputations and now the machinery is not top shelf they aren't finding it easy to lead their respective teams forward. Their teammates are making them look ordinary. They both look like they are last generation pilots, which of course they now are. Time marches on. I wouldn't bet on either of them winning again (certainly not titles in Michael's case).

However with the tyre preservation issues with the current tyres I would be fairly sure Michael has a totally different setup to hopefully (for him) better deal with the issues in the race

How many time Rubens finish ahead of Maldonado? And in Qualification. It is not surprising that when they work with one strategy(for Qualy and race). Michael and Nico have different strategy ,from here different Q3 result. Do you think that Michael with race setup in Qualy, don't know that in Q3 he will be slower than Nico? I am sure he know it very well. Did he care? I don't think so.

RB didn't have 2 years sitting on the sidelines either. IMHO it's those 2 years out of the game that are the problem and I don't think he will fully get back to his previous position.

That's the same for all teams, and whilst it accounts for the teams overall position in relation to the other teams it doesn't account for his performance in relation to NR who has the same issues to deal with.

Onto the race, folks, should be fun and entertaining. More of Schumacher pushing on the limit in below par machinery for 70 odd laps.

Correction: M Schumacher pushing his limit which is far from being the limit of the car.

So you seriously think that Maldonado, a rookie, is on the same pace as Rosberg (who is starting his 100th Grand Prix this weekend)?

Somehow my jesting question for people to predict in what lap Michael would have an incident has been removed, as is Ivan's answer to it. I wonder why? It's just a bit of innocent fun, coming from a Schumacher fan. I meant no harm with it.

Bit too strict if you ask me.

Yep, 1 out of about thirty races when he looked anything like his former self. :)

But indeed the conditions today could see another of those elusive days, at least if he can avoid shedding bits of his car.

Some aren't bright enough to realize they're implying Schumacher's limit is beyond what the car is capable of, I guess.

Well he couldn't pit the same lap as Rosberg so he would have had to went in two laps earlier.

He could pit with DIR with no problem. Race destroyed by strategy, not my favourite thing.

MS has been quicker than NR for about the last 10 laps both on Inters & now Slicks.....shame he lost the position because the team pitted both drivers a lap late.

Edit : Most of the time gained is in the middle sector at least 0.5 secs there, MS into the 29s...

Well I think I can predict the trolls on the scorecard thread....

MS was behind NR all race, he had another spin, and was going backwards from 5th all race.....zzzzz

In reality, MS was faster than NR every lap bar 1 from about lap 8 and he had a slide to avoid a crash as Massa did his usual turn in regardless move.

Merc really are toss, hugely disappointing again.

You know Slate Gray isn't as big a twat as his posts on this thread try to make out. Shame he can't resist trolling blatant falsehoods here.

MS wasn't slow in the race, read my post a few lines above... he was quicker many laps and how can the mechanical be his fault?

Foolish boy.

hopefully no more problems at SPA and we can see what result schumchers pace can give with no mistakes , no penalties and no technical difficulties

The DNF was very annoying, could have been a good race in the later stages considering the pace he showed early on. Real shame.

The car was a horrible today, though. Even the Toro Rossos and Saubers were on Rosberg's pace towards the end.
