FIA press conference seems to have turned into Michael Schumacher: This Is Your Life. And not in a good way.

Why do you even react to those island monkey questions? They need something to write tomorrow.

Schumacher has given a good reply to Jordan & Lauda.

Critics 'paid to open mouths' - Schumacher

Aug.25 (GMM) Michael Schumacher has moved to ridicule those pundits who think he should quit.
Television pundits Niki Lauda, the triple world champion, and former team owner and boss Eddie Jordan, recently derided 42-year-old German Schumacher's performance so far in his return to formula one.

"Of course I would prefer not to have to deal with it and that some people would keep their mouths shut, the Mercedes driver told FAZ newspaper.

On the other hand, I know that these people are paid to have their mouths open. But if everyone who is driving on my level had to quit, there would not be many left."

Fernando Alonso: “I have great respect for him, he’s one of the greatest or the greatest in our sport,” said Alonso. “The numbers are there and impossible to repeat for us. It’s been a great pleasure to drive with him all these years. I will always remember all the battles with him. It was a priviledge to drive against Michael Schumacher.

“He decided to stop and then come back and now the car is not competitive enough for him to win races, but I’m sure he is still enjoying. There are some criticisms about his results now but I don’t agree with them. Michael was watching the races at home three years ago, now he’s seventh or ninth, but I’m sure he is happy every morning because he is racing in F1. It’s what he wants to do; he’s a driver.

“Twenty years are a lot. If I think of myself it would be 2021 and I don’t think I can do that! I want to congratulate him for these 20 years and tell him it’s a pleasure to race against him.”

Well said Fernando and Stefano, he is the greatest driver ever, a true Ferrari hero and I will always love him, forever!

All those memories and all those titles he gave us 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004, plus the amazing races over the years, fantastic, a true racing hero of our time even if he has done some stupid antics at times.

But this is my feelings for you Michael

But I must admit I support Ferrari, not him haha ;)

The 5Live commentators spotted Jock Clear on Michaels side of the garage (?), which prompted Anthony Davidson to say that there were rumours before this race about a possible change of engineer(s) for Michael.

Mark my words..

Michael will either have:-

1: DRS Failure
2: KERS Failure
3: Mysterious lack of pace

or a combination of all three, during qually and the race.

Jock Clear - Saboteur!

Would be most strange for Jock to go from his promoted role overarching race engineering to an assistant race engineer. We have clearly not got the story here at all.

Oh I see! So he has been promoted! But what happened to Mark Slade is a question the journalists should ask the Mercedes team!

But why the engineer change?

Since he isn't with Willy anymore, things aren't running to well for him eh ?...

Now today at Spa, he has done a "Jos Verstappen" (P1 on a Friday with a lesser car than the rest)....

That's all he is going to get.

Well, that is what we thought, but I have read no official comments about that from anybody. MS usually bonded with his race engineers, that might be one of his problems. He must be demanding in that area.

New engineer, instantly 15s faster than the field. Knew it wasn't Michael that was the problem. He is back to his old self, like the way he used to haul in championships in those inferior Ferraris (2002, 2004)! :smoking:

Inferior doesn't even cover those. Those cars supposedly were only able to drive backwards until Schu drove them.

Michael Schumacher gets new race engineer at Mercedes

Michael Schumacher's race engineer at Mercedes has changed, with his former assistant race engineer Peter Bonnington taking over the role from Mark Slade.

Slade was formerly Kimi Raikkonen's race engineer at McLaren, and was recruited from Renault, where he worked with Vitaly Petrov, for this season. He has taken up what a team spokesperson described as "a factory-based role within race engineering" because he has "decided to stop travelling".

Bonnington assumes the role with immediate effect having worked with Schumacher since the seven-time world champion came back to Formula 1 at the start of last year.

Jock Clear, who was Nico Rosberg's race engineer last year and for the first three races of of this season before new recruit Tony Ross joined from Williams, has stepped in as Schumacher's performance engineer for the final eight races of the season while a permanent replacement is found.

The team said that the move had been made with immediate effect in order for Bonnington and Schumacher to develop their relationship ahead of the 2012 season.

http://www.autosport...rt.php/id/93956
Sounds fishy to me. Did they know that Slade decided to stop traveling in 2011 ,when they hire him?? I just know that MS have two assistant engineers right now. This is the biggest joke I read today.
