If there are no 1st corner accidents I don't see MS not being able finish ahead of KK. Yes Sauber is good on the tires and KK is in front of his home crowd but MS is no slouch either. In fact if things go well MS can probably even stick with FM... we know sometimes Ferrari don't do well on a particular stint with a particular tire compound.

Why would you say that? I had seen no data that underlines this. (genuine question)

He's been predicting doom for MGP since pre-season testing. Renault, Sauber, Toro Rosso, and Williams were all supposed to thrash them LOL

There are some data.

Sauber will as usual ply their ridiculous one stop less strategy, running around on worn tyres for half the race. It's their lack of pace that is worrying, if MS gets a good start and is unlucky enough to get stuck behind any of the Saubers after his pitstops it's a ruined race.

And yeah, the Turn 1-Turn 2 sequence is pretty tricky and narrow, someone's bound to get pushed out wide and onto the runoffs, fingers crossed that won't happen with the Mercs.

ok then.

My opinion is that Ferrari will be in another level compared Mercedes under any tire/fuel load. Also, Sauber is better on tire management and, on track with fast corners, they are often faster than Mercedes and Reno, in race pace.

It's not like that. Before Mercedes bring their latests upgrades in the final testings, it genuinely looked like that Sauber and STR were faster but after the last testings, I trusted more in Mercedes. But still, the reality is that Sauber was faster than Mercedes in many races this year.

Where? It was only one race in Australia. And now MGP are comparable with other midfield teams about tyre wear.
Start is not so narrow, Michael can attack Webber from left and right.

Well... actually a nice quiet race for Schumi is fine for me. I can't see him doing any better than 7th unless something happens up front.

Shame to see him have to nurse the tyres so much though.

Why isn't he coming in?

because he saved his tyres for so long now hes got to nail it, looks like merc are trying to make the tyres last and not get jumped by the force indias and saubers who probably will do less stops.

dont see it working though he needs to nail it and clear them by a big margin not match there pace for 10laps

The safety car ruins all that hard work, doesn't it? Or does it? I always get confused about how the cars line up after this sort of thing...

Ok so the headlines are ahead of Massa and close behind Hamilton.

Its a shame he wasn't running that phase on hard tyres, a new set of softs now would have been superb. Ah well, lets see how it goes to the end. Keeping fingers crossed for 6th!

I think it's interesting how Michael is always the fastest in the last sector - Martin and DC talked about it yesterday that Michael was the only driving to attack the kerbs there...it seems to pay off.

Can't see the action, obviously, but from the timings Michael has dropped off from Lewis and is keeping Massa about 0.5s behind him. I can only assume that Michael is weaving like a rug maker to keep Felipe at bay and thats where he's losing time.

Edit - Nope, just saw it. All looks very calm. 0.5s behind here doesn't feel as close as on other circuits somehow.
