You can feel how Schumacher has improved in the last few months. Another great race by him!

A very good race by Michael considering he actually gained from the SC. I'll say it again but if this man was in the 2nd RB, or the 2nd McLaren or the 2nd Ferrari he'd being doing a better job than his counterparts.

I think he lost from SC, everyone behind him come very close, maybe it help only with Massa? Suttil and DIR lost from SC for sure.

He would have coasted to 7th without the SC, he gained 6th with the SC so he gained from it.

Before the sc ms was not going to race anybody in front or have anybody race him from behind

He lost time having all the guys is the back all over him but that didn cost him anything
Instead he got a chance at massa and took it with both hands

Good drive, shows he has recovered the bulk of his driving skills.

Shame we didn't see a few laps of him leading for novelty value but then again he did get his unfair share at Monza ;)

I think Michael would be doing a better job than Felipe. Mark Webber has gone missing this year, it would be very interesting to see how Michael would do in his car.

Which is the 2nd McLaren? :p Not sure on that one ;)

Not sure if it was set up or the car, but MS was so much slower than everybody else in the 1st sector. But he was close in 2nd sector and the fastest in the 3rd.

Great race by Schumi!

Race director was abysmal.

He didn't pushed so much, managing the tyres all race. Maybe set up was not also best there, some times when he needed he was OK. I think in first sector you can save most from the tyres?

I think it is very simple, just check WDC table.

I've noticed on quite a few occasions this year that he has been running different setups than everyone else, being notably slower in one sector and a bit faster in another.

What MS did today was equal to win for me. Spa also. Canada too. With 4th fastest car!! Little more speed and he could challenge Lewis today.

Leaving aside Mr hot topic, i really think MS has been doing a good job lately, better than Massa and Webber.

They don't have an opinion except from Brundle thinking Schumacher could hunt down Webber who was 10s down the road with 7 laps. to go :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can't remember them speaking much about MS today, except that they said what everyone knew. He led the race for the first time (not counting Hungary earlier this year) since Japan 2006. They even thought he might catch Hamilton in the end, which even I thought with much fresher tyres, but the pace wasn't there on the medium tyre.

LOL at this thread getting more poster time than Vettle winning his 2nd WDC today - and that's only the team players (trolls working on retaliation plan, a bit confused and on the back foot about the good result still  ).

Thx:)

There was a moment about 5 laps before the finish when Schumi was only 1,7 from Hamilton.

My educated guess is this time, because he knows the track so well, he went for a setup to gain time in the final sector. Past has shown (yes, the past) that he was always ├╝ber in sector 1, at least with the McLaren of Hakkinen not calculated. It's a technical section so I suspect he went for it hoping to equal his competitors there and gain elsewhere in the lap.

Did anyone notice how much MS was lifting in the corners after he made his 1st pit stop? There was a team radio that said the mechanics forgot to adjust his front wing which would cause blisters and that he had to manage his tyres the entire stint.

The Red Button Forum is about Red Bull and McLaren (again)....I don't think they even mentioned any other driver or team so far.

too bad that the last races will have short start/finish straights (though Korea has a killer straight after turn 1)

If Merc can give him the car the technical team should be able to produce, then I think we'll see his final season in 2012 end with a couple of wins. He's back, let's put it that way. If you take away the incidents he's had this year and take into account the points lost, then he'd be miles ahead of Rosberg in points.

OK his qualifying is still a bit suspect, but don't forget that this was never his strongest point anyway, unless he was in the fastest car.

I think even in qualifying, he has closed the gap to Nico. Hope he gets a better car next year that will help him win a couple of races, maybe that will motivate him to stay beyond 2012 for a championship challenge in 2013.

What I noticed (maybe wrong though) that he was improving his times towards the end of his stints. Which makes me think he was saving his tires or they have found a setup which help with less degradation. Or both.

yea he was dead slow on those tyres for pretty much the whole sting and then finally started pushing them after around 10 laps which was all the mercs and redbulls were getting from tyres anyway

Yes, Webber was so far back when he made that move. He did the same to Massa at Monza, just lunging at cars from way behind. Glad MS did not get a puncture.

IMHO there is a high probability that Schumi stay in Merc/F1 after 2012. In particular that he constantly better than Rosberg and Nico wants to go to ferrari:

I thought Schumacher was superb today.

You could see from the footage and 1st sector times he was obviously lifting quite a bit in the esses to save his tyres and it really paid off.

Massa's spirit has been broken at Ferrari. Rosberg looks down and moody these days at Mercedes. The two drivers should swap seats. Rosberg will get the chance he has been waiting for at Ferrari (until Alonso destroys him) and Massa would be in a better place mentally alongside Schumacher - the two are genuine friends and Massa's spirits should be lifted as well.

It's win-win for both drivers.

I very much doubt Mercedes would be willing to sign Massa if there is a seat available. It will definitely be Di Resta. I don't think Massa will get a seat at a top team anymore. He's just not the same since he came back from injury and the subsequently notorious "Fernando is faster than you" radio call.

That will be not be the chance he is waiting more like the chance he deserves with his performances in 2011. Even though i don't like him anymore i hope that will not waste his talent as a mere journeyman driver for much more and the swap you propose would help them only temporarily i think. I think it will be a step backwards in terms on skill, but on the other hand it will consolidate Michael as number 1 driver in MGP and sole contender of the 2013 WDC on MGP's behalf. No idea about the best option actually but MS-Massa would leave them without any ready solution for the future i think.

Edit: the last part is not what i think it's fact :p

Not to go into discussion ,but I am not sure it will be definitely DIR. Pretty sure Sutil and Hulk will be also considered.
MS lost around 2 sec in his second pit stop.

'What a start' :drunk: Shumi passed one single driver from his 8th starting position to 7th, because the driver who started 7th bogged down and lost to 12th. I've seen Shumi do a fair bit better than that this year.
