faster man (as pretty much always) over 300 km distance finished ahead again :)
I´m still a bit angry about the first stop, wasn´t necessary to leave him out in the dust there.

Very good performance.

The old champion is still in there - he is great at monitoring the situation, not wasting the tyres, and then pulling it all together when he has to. P5, great result from that car.

But isn't that what give him advantage in the end staying out a lot longer than Rosberg?

noone forced rosberg to pit when he did? the car infront always gets the first choice on stratergy

Very good pace. If he was closer to Nico at the start, would be easy ,but not such fun. What BBC said?

Come on guys, don't go shooting on both Schumacher or Rosberg. We wanted to see a head to head shootout all year long but either way Schumacher ran into trouble (car/himself) or Nico was crashed out/had car issues/too little fuel/not the same tyre compounds. Well, a shootout we got! Schumacher blitzed his qualifying disadvantage right from the line and ended up right behind Rosberg, both of them not able to live with the pace of the cars ahead. Same tyre compounds, same tyre age (afaik), same temperatures, same piece of track, almost the same battles.

Yes, Schumacher did a very good job and passed his team mate, yes, Rosberg didn't maintain that position, but look at the gap ahead... 40 seconds in 60 laps to Webber. There is clearly not any more speed to be found in that car. First stint was for Nico, averaging about 0,2-0,25s a lap faster than Schumacher. Stint 2 was for Schumacher and he was much more able to cut the gap back to Rosberg, to 2 seconds? They were really trading blows hard that part of the race, lapping within 0,01s of each other. Stint 3 was Schumachers as well when he found grip on his hard tyres, reasonably easy to maintain the same pace as Nico, who even slightly went too far in lap 2 after MSC's stop.

Positive point: I'm amazed how Schumacher was able to put in about 6 (?) extra laps on that soft compound, eventually to be the fastest man on track for 3 laps or something. That tyre saving way Merc introduced, is paying off. Except the car is lacking speed to fight at the front. Good weekend for both of them.

Good job for MS today, staying out of trouble and matching Rosberg.

Now we need to apply common practice and analyse the lap times to determine who was really better. :p

If anyone thought Schumacher was way past it, the race performance was epic! In defence to Nico, the only thing that goes against him vs his teammate is the fact that Schumi gets this awesome starts so regularly that it almost negates all the advantage Nico gets out of qualifying. I think Michael will be very happy about his performance out... the best of the rest.

Michael on RTL :
Nico's tires were gone faster, he had to pit, Michael managed them better especially in second stint.

Can't explain the quali pace difference even with tire problems and difference in setup (quali/race). He can easily match and even be faster than Nico in race.

1st stint to Nico. 2nd to MS by a bigger margin. 3rd stint, MS did just what was needed. :)

The important point is that MSC shows constant improvement. He learns to converve the tires, gets the car set-up to be easy on the tires, has mastered to use KERS and DRS to the full advantage. Other and younger top driver do not seem to learn as much as quickly.

I heard Michael said something specific about the vibration issue yesterday - something about 40 grams (?). Did anyone see/hear the interview?

About the Korea tires. The set with vibration was unbalanced.

aparently hamilton complained about vibration on his second stint tyres in the race and thats why he was only matching or slightly slower than nico and msc

I was wondering about this, he was behind(?) the Toro Rosso's after the first corner yet was ahead and behind Nico by the second lap.

Yeah, 14 grams(maybe 40grams, I don't speak Deutsch like you) more on the tyre in Korea. I only understand F1 Deutsch.

He's looking happy in the interview. No boasting. He's explained his early stratergy, not bothering to keep up with rosberg and save his pace for later.

Why does he suck in qualifying? With his rocket starts, he could muscle his way past the top six and cause havoc and some good racing. As it is, he is using them just to recover the ground to the point he should have already been at.

He said he doesn't understand why the big difference in quali (even taking in account different setups, tire problems). He said in race he can easily match Nico.

Ralf said that´s not the result you would expect after claiming that you´re the faster driver.
Since Spa, his worst race when finishing the race was 6th (and 3x 5th).

Maybe he use less downforce, which is bad in one lap but better in a race pace (less fuel, better top speed, save the tyres).

I think Petrov rob us in Korea from the same result. MS was around 7 sec behind Nico ,and we know how Nico pace drop in the end. 100% Michael would finish ahead of Nico there.

would have been a bit harder, but looking how much time Nico lost there while he was fighting the Ferraris for nothing, quite likely yes.
