I think, MS is doing it only to piss off Moss and Stewart. They already put the end of his F1 carrier. :p

Great news another 2 years with Michael on the grid, looking forward to him winning the first race with Mercedes.
Vettel and Schumi together on the podium.

Here's the Sportbild article (German)

Just received the newest Sport Bild issue.
Michael extended his contract untill 2013. It was already agreed at Singapur, he has a clause that allows him to take an option for 2014 or stepping in as an advisor for example from there on.
Reading the article, it looks like him and Clear get along very nicely and it seems like he´ll stay on Michael´s side of the garage next year too.

Hope it's true!

Also the bit about the advisory role... fear the return of "the owl"! :p

The logic is: if you have more cash than some countries you are looking for something else to feed your "EGO"!

Well yes, quite obviously the only reason he wants to stay to try and win another world championship is to prove to everyone else and himself that he can still be the best at that age, that's why all the drivers are out there, it's purely selfish, if they didn't care about winning they wouldn't be there, they all want to be considered the best and they all have some of the biggest egos going, that's part of becoming the best, thinking you're the best.

Rosberg should stay, he can learn from MS, Brawn and Co. what it takes to build up a team and car - if it doesn't succeed he's got that knowledge to carry with him forever as a driver and if they do succeed he is either better than MS or he isn't, if he isn't he doesn't deserve to win anyway at Benz or another team.

It could also be that Michael's better connections from previous F1 years help to build the team around him. I think Rosberg will still look good, however. What he needs even more than beating his team mate is a race winning car ad possibly collecting experience in a WDC fight in the next couple of years.

I think a main motivation for MS is that he sees 2013 as a year in which he may have a serious shot at the WDC again.

Relevant information: It's a "handshake contract" at the moment (done in Singapur between Brawn and MS). Details still need to be done. Rosberg primary goal is to win with Merc, but also keep other options.

Schumi has already denied this report saying he wants more time to decide whether to continue or not! I guess he wants to see how good the Mercedes GP car is next season before committing for a new contract.

Michael Schumacher wants more time to decide on Formula 1 future

Michael Schumacher wants more time before deciding if he wants to extend his Formula 1 career with Mercedes GP, despite team-mate Nico Rosberg sorting out a fresh deal with the outfit.

Wow, I would like a second confirmation. I was always suspecting he might choose to stay active some more, but I thought we would hear about it only in incoming months. If true, that will clear calendar for many hopefuls. On my part I will be elated once confirmed on MGP site.

My guess was quite accurate after all, as he will decide on 2013 only next year.

The reason Corinna Schumacher is here:

Schumacher celebrates "20th anniversary" in the desert

Posted Image

Abu Dhabi (AP) - In the desert, Michael Schumacher has celebrated the two decades long relationship with his current wife Corinna. "Yesterday we have there, our 20th anniversary" committed, the record world champion in Abu Dhabi told before the penultimate round of the Formula 1

"The East has its charms," enthused the Mercedes driver from Kerpen in the paddock of the Yas Marina Circuit. "Bedouin tents and the very different nature." He and his wife had enjoyed the atmosphere.

I think the reason is clear, to help him finish the race. To bring him luck. I hope he will repeat his qualifying from last year.

Nope. It was on a slow lap. He shortcutted one particular corner several times on purpose to get faster to the line for his next hotlap...

The FIA will be on to it if it's offering an advantage though.

Senna once set a fastest time and got pole at Magny Cours by being way too hot for the last corner and spinning across the finish line that was positioned immediately after the corner!

Michael (and Mercedes) wouldn't do it if this is not legal like the pit stop thing in the last race.

Or they THOUGHT it was legal, like the last lap Schumacher pass on Alonso in Monaco.

No - The rules were unclear and it had to be resolved by the FIA and the rules rewritten afterwards for clarity. This year commentating, Coulkthard even got it wrong again (can't remember which race, Canada maybe).

Oh and this thread was on page 2, first time I've seen it there all year otherwise being on page 1, not bad for a 42year old "has been" who's running 7th currently

I had to go looking for Rosberg's thread once which was on page 4 and maybe have to get used to it with the amount of Kimi threads next year (if that happens ;))

It is FP, if you look FP2 times you should be worried about Nico too. Race pace is more important.

The strange thing is, that he´s even 0,5sec slower than his best FP2-time. But maybe this one was set on the "experimental tyres"...

Anyway i don´t expect much from him in Qualifying.

Everybody is too slow, except the drivers that happen to be employed by a certain three teams. Barring mistakes, Mercedes is the fourth place team. P7 and P8 is the best they can hope for.

Who cares about the Q3 this season?

As long as Schumacher keeps doing starts like before in this season, he will be right behind Rosberg with a car on complete race-setup...
