Epic. The only thing that will taint his career is his fashion sense.

I think you're wrong and I don't mean Kimi, I mean the Lotus (not Renault fyi), both of them look to be a serious threat and I'm still saying Force India are right in there and now Williams have Renault powe ...

RBR and Mclaren will still be the ones to beat but theres going to be a real bun fight between 4 or 5 teams for the 3rd ranking.

I somehow doubt it.

Agreed. This is testing guys; I would remain cautious about everything.

For all we know with Merc being so quiet they could be a dominant force!

-Exactly it's all speculation.

cheapracer isn't letting his guard down, expect the worst and anything better will be bliss. In the sane part of his mind he doesn't really expect Schumacher & Rosberg to be fighting for 11th & 12th.

Agree 100%. Analizing the test data gives me every reason to believe the MGP package is super competitive. There seems to be an air of quiet confidence hanging around the Mercedes camp. They will turn heads and we'll see both MS and NR on the podium this season. I'm predicting at least one victory.

Thirded. There is no way LOTUS, FI or SAUBER will finish ahead of MGP in 2012.

MGP can have a disaster race here and there but they are in a good shape and in fact can pleasently surprise by performing better than expected. LOTUS on the other hand has all grounds to disappoint given how high they raised a bar during the testing by presumably having such a great pace...

In that case I'm curious how close to reality this will turn out to be:

I painted it in my garage, borrowed a compressor from work and ordered a spray gun and air brush off ebay! i can post pics from begining to end if you want

In the end! it wasn't easy but i ended up mixing 3 different colours together to get it reasonably close mate

I thought id throw up some of the photos i mentioned for you guys, its a shame the camera cant pic up the colours properly as they look different in each shot! :drunk:

You can click thumbnails for bigger pics,

Heres the first layer of red going on.

Doing the black for the monster section. I used the monster font and printed out something different. Cut them out of vinyl
Posted Image

Heres a bit of a halfway stage.
Posted Image

Getting ready to pain the silver, took ages to mask up!
Posted Image

Silver lines.
Posted Image

Here the monster bit comes to life, but i didnt want monster, put my name instead
Posted Image

Then instead of Schumi's dragons, i decided to put a picture of my dog on the back instead! i airbrushed him from a stencil.
Posted Image

Then was time to do the top of the helmet, i couldn't quite get it the same as Michaels, but i tried to get it close
You mask it out with thin tape then spray over the tape to make the shadow.
Posted Image

Time for the 7 stars! made some templates out of vinyl for these as well
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Michael has the names of his children on the side of his helmet, so i didnt of course want that! i decided to have Massa style, i messed the otherside up tho, so i had to add this red line to cover my mistake!
Posted Image

Posted Image

I didnt know what to put on the front where the Merc badge goes, so i settled on the Autobots after a while
Posted Image

After that, it was pretty much it until i had it lacqured, i couldnt do that myself because you need a air fed suit and an oven to cure it
Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Today i changed the visor strip for a silver one

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Thats it, hope you enjoy, if i can find a better camera ill take a pic to see if the colours come out better than on my phone
Next up i think i do Raikkonen style design.

At this stage I think RB is also fighting for his legacy, and I do not mean it in a bad way, but it would be probably unprecedented to have on his Resume rise of SF, rise of ex-Honda under his banner, and now Mercedes. Not bad at all.

Any idea if any interviewer has asked Michael if he feels like he can now drive a little more like he used to, balancing the car on throttle and brakes with the EBD ban?

won't this EBD thing never end? I already said here many times that in 2010 they didn't have it and the situation was even worse.

That's a giant heap of BS. Until the the blow-mapping started, mid-season 2010, Valencia, I think) the difference was not significant between them. You said it many times, and you were wrong many times. How was it worse? MS crumbled in qualy's from then on. Problem with you is that you forget what you read within ten seconds, and start the same BS all over. Take some pills, your memory is short, and you pull facts for your axx.

Also the 2010 car was heavily leaning towards understeer? Which could potentially ruin the difference.

Why not just wait if the lack of EBD will make a difference and then judge? If MS is constantly within 2 tenths of Rosberg (or even matches or beats him) in qualifying for the first few 2012 races, then you will have a strong case for your "EBD was MS' kryptonite" theory. If not, then not.

Yep. I'd say that Rosberg is the kryptonite though. No doubt he is exceptional.

I remember somebody, don't know if you, claiming they already had it in mid 2010 but where is the source for that? I think I already read somewhere that only Red Bull had it for 2010 and other teams only introduced theirs in 2011. My memory is not that short, I just wanna see something more concrete to really prove that EBD was already introduced in the Mercedes for mid 2010. For instance, I remember asking for source of that before?

EDIT: You are RIGHT!!! I found here on a Scarbs article:

Since Mid season both Williams and Mercedes have created open fronted diffusers. In Mercedes case the 800c heat from the exhaust created problems with the diffuser rigidity. Detail design heat shields and improved materials, such as ceramic composites (i.e. Pyrosil) have allowed the exhaust flow to pass directly over the diffuser surface without thermal problems.

So the EBD thing might not be necessarily wrong. However, In China and Malaysia(this one in the wet), Schumi was slower by quite a big gap even without EBD but there might be some truth in what you claim because he was faster or closer to Nico everywhere else before Valencia. My bad, sorry!

Using exhaust gases to generate downforce is nothing new.. they used this with the flat bottom cars in the early 90's Schumachers Benetton B192, B193 and also the B194 had the ability. I remember a documentory of how he was taking the maggots beckets sequence with his foot flat on the throttle while using left foot braking, he was using the exhaust gasses to create more downforce.

Thinking about it again. I don't have time now to search for it but, thinking again, I don't know if the EBD, itself, would jeopardize Schumacher driving style. Actually, wouldn't he benefit from it? I mean because he "plays" more with the throttle, he benefits from downforce he get's from staying longer with right pedal pressed. Isn't the engine mapping which would jeopardize Schumacher driving style? a device which would unable him to play with the throttle during cornering. Later. I'll try to find when Mercedes introduced their engine mapping.

PS:This was a genuine question, I'm not trying to prove a point with this post.
