Here is an interesting bit of information from a forum I follow.

In 1992 & 1993, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost became champions in Adrian Newey designed Williams-Renault. But in 1994, Michael Schumacher stopped them, winning the title with Benneton-Ford with Ross Brawn besides him.

In 1998 & 1999, Mika Hakkinen became champion in a McLaren-Mercedes, and Newey was there again. Guess who stopped them in 2000? It was Michael Shumacher again in a Ferrari and Ross Brawn was besides him, too.

In 2010 & 2011, young Sebastian Vettel won the title in a car designed by who? It's Mr.Newey again!
Incidentally in 2012, Michael Schmacher and Ross Brawn are together this time at Mercedes AMG Petronas.

I think in 97 Newey was already on his way to Mclaren??
also failed was 2005-2006 but then he retired. Im pretty sure he would have won 2007 hands down

It would be nice if it would come true! Heck if Schumi get a win it would be amazing. Damn I never thought my expectations of schuminwould be so low lol.

I had a dream last night that he won the Australian GP and woke up to him being fastest in FP2. Tempted to put some money down...

Well, in 97 Newey was on 'gardening leave' but the car was still pretty much designed so you can safely count it as Newey's as well. 2005-2006 is correct though, but he had the entire FIA against them with their daily regulation changes (and they still beat them in 2003 and 2004;))

The thought of Schumacher winning is actually making me giddy! It would be a dream come true (for a lot of people too!). Guess we'll see the prospects of that happening tomorrow but the car looks good and it's so good to see Schumacher being able to throw a car around how he likes again :)

Hopefully a saturday without a setback and good progress in all sessions.
At the moment I guess P5-7 in qualifying, still behind Nico tbh.

I had the same feeling, it seemed to be a proper qualy simulation and still 3/10s slower :-( But one good thing is he set a competitive time on his first hot lap which he rarely did in 2011.

Track goes faster all the time. MS 5 laps , Nico 9 laps. Lets wait and see.
Now he lost time in S1,overtaking the car.

Guys, Do you think Michael will be ahead of Nico in this qualy? As much as i want him to be ahead, somehow not confident about it. How about you guys?

From winter testing I think Roseberg is still faster.. smaller margin, but still ahead.

I think he will be closer, but not ahead. Just enough to catch One-Hundred-Fifty-Percent-Full-Throttle-Attack-Rosberg in the race, that would be a good start for the season. But there's just no way he will be as slow as Raikkonen, for example. :D

This.

The track is continually evolving: let the action on track do the talking (quali) .

Irritating to see Schumi burn a set to clear Q1, but better cautious then Raikonnen (proving how hard it is for a WC to come back and be competitive after a few years away from a single seater!)

But things are looking much better this year already, aren't they? If Schumi hadn't make that mistake he'd be only about a tenth down on Nico, thats nothing. Pleeeease get through Q2 without too much faffing and do a representative run in Q3, thats what we've been waiting for since February...

It must be softs. He improved his 1 second. I hate this when happens. Such a trivial information, yet we didn't learn it.

Second outing was waste, strategy mistake. There was 3-4 guys between him and 18th place. Webber too was behind and he didn't come out.

Wow. P4. Nicole beaten. First two corner looks scarry tomorrow, but if MS do the first lap well, he may fight for the race win:)

I feel something that I did't feel since 2006...

That was ****ing ridiculous, that was a P2 for Michael and you know it.

Seriously closely matched cars at the front, I'm just hoping he didn't take the best out of those tyres and that it won't affect him adversely in the race.

finally the bits and pieces are coming together. Before the start of the season I would have thought Melbourne might not be the best track for them, hope it looks even better at Sepang.
Nonetheless let´s see the race pace first tomorrow.

That's a very good start of the season. Obviously it's only qualifying, all the work has to be done tomorrow, but still, it's pleasant to see Michael doing a very fine job in qualifying, his best ever starting grid position since his comeback. He looked pretty agressive and quick all weekend and thankfully it lasted right until the end of qualifying, which was not always the case last year. Happy with 4th, if he can take Grosjean at the start tomorrow he will be in a good position, but then again Mercedes race pace and tyre degradation is a total unknown.

just remember what alonso said on 2011 about Michael, "He will be always super class; if the car is right, he will be a contender that we will fear most."

now looks car is good , and others need to worry :)

No trolls. :)

I'm really hoping for a good result. Hopefully a clean start past grosjean and then just keep it together and for the love of god, watch out for your front wing.
