If you take a new gearbox, I'm sure you can also change the ratios! (??)

That is my understanding as well. Is there any other topic where we could find confirmation?

... some of the muppets at the back.

This disrespectful attitude has to stop. The likes of Button have already shown that they can be at fault for a collision with a "muppet."

Wow I wake up and hear this splendid news. From 18th to 17th then to 22nd! Boom! Well done Merc

Now of course, there's that typical Rosberg podium and Schumacher DNF waiting in line to happen hours from now to make things even better for MS and us his fans. :(

Seriously though, let's see what the old man can do today. Im not expecting much but ANYTHING could happen. And by anything, that ranges from a lucky win that marks his 92nd, to a podium, to a not too shabby top 10 finish, to a blown engine, to Schumacher running over a Merc pit crew member in the pits that results to a 2 year ban, to not enough fuel to finish the race, to a wing failure, to a DRS failure, to a wheel failure or when it comes to it, the best among the daddies, to a Petrov. :(

Indeed, even more points for 'cruise and collect' Britney.

And even if it is a Spa '11 repeat and Schuey drives way up the field to even finish in front of Rosberg we'll be hearing here how he was so advantaged starting on the prime tires...

He won't start from pitlane. I hate this team.

There's a lot more you can change than gear ratio under these changing conditions.

To be honest, I don't think we will see a Spa 2011 repeat today.
Or not even this season for that matter, the field is to tight and the tires are to fragile. :|

22 to 15th will be easy. After that it is very tight and he'll struggle.

Who would of thought, rain and cooler temps.

This is when Sudnay warm up would of come to everyone's aids.

Setup work prior to Sunday now could be off.. Most likely off, but who's will be more off.....

I think Nico has a strong chance for competing for win.

Schumacher may lose benefit of extra tyres, didn't see the gearbox change coming, but could understand why, but then with weather changes, things may/may not go right.

Horrible race pace, this coming from a die-hard MS fan. I'm not going to believe him from now on when he says he has set his car up for the race. Absolutely no progress through the field.

The car is simply shit, compared to the rest. He is running Rosberg's pace.

Yeah, he setup for the race, just the pace is not good. But, not worst than McL. Problem is they didn't have an updates for 4 races, all other have. Don't forget tyre lottery.

This Bahrain race is usually hot, Mercedes have a car that that has a window that they set up for, and no one expected some rain and cooler temps, you could tell at the start of the race, without sunday warm up like before, you can't change the car, the weather threw mercedes pace, look at Mclaren firstly!

Redbull and Renault have a wider operating window, the tempatures dictated quite alot. Mclaren and Mercedes need to get their set ups to match Sunday race tempatures.

The day today was all about track temperatures.

This season is going to go everything if Saturday and Sunday are vastly different temperatures. If Mclaren and Mercedes are ahead of redbull, that makes things harder for vettel, it's interesting redbull were ahead of both of them today, next time, who knows.

Nothing spectacular, 16 seconds behind Rosberg. Neither Mercedes seemed very strong here, shame.

Overheating tyres, just shows what bunch of amateurs are running this team. Instead of starting from the pitlane and changing the setup they let him start on soft rubber.

Decent enough showing from Schumi in that he came from 22nd to get the final point, and was only 16 seconds behind Rosberg who remained 5th. Taking field spread into account and the time lost in racing other cars and it wasn't a bad drive. Not magic, but he couldn't have done much more and at least made his way through the field cleanly.

they had so much freedom in their choices and what are they doing? Just covering Nico and react a lap later...

Thank god there´s a bit of testing now to sort a few things out.

Did he start on softs? That was a bad call, with the issue that happened y'day I thought he will start on hard with 2 stops.

Just look at the 3rd stint (on medium). Rosberg's tyres were gone but Schumi's were still OK, but the team again pitted him a lap after Rosberg. Pathetic.

Poor set up from both Mercedes. Michael got a point but really, lots of head scratching to go on I'm sure.

Only 16 seconds behind Nico who quite frankly was a shadow of the guy who won last week. He deserved two drive throughs today.

Sorry i was so upset i am die hard fan of him.... I can't see him in this position... He is 7 time world champion he should beat his team mate first .... I have so much respect and love for what he achieved in his journey in F1....It's just sad . :(

Frustrating to see Kimi on the podium after his fourth race, while Michael's been at in unsuccessfully for more than forty. Have to acknowledge though that a) Kimi's driving pretty well and b) Lotus is a better car than anything MGP put out 2010/2011.

It mgiht help if he didn't get scuppered in qually so he started higher than dead last when his team mate put it in 5th.

5th to 5th, v 22nd to 10th (and this isn't including a potential penalty for rosberg that if awarded, should have definitely been mid race and not post). Not the best weekend, but certainly not a terrible one. And MS' pace was within a tenth of Rosberg's most times i managed to get live timing working for me.

Do people watch the race before commenting???

Schumi did as much as he could with a car that simply wasn't the best out there. He finished 16s behind Nico.!!! 16s coming back from the rear of the grid driving behind cars that were racing way slower then the cars Nico was behind.

Nico was disappointing today... don't get how he didn't get a 3rd. It was there for the taking but he went back to his 2011 routine of being conservative and getting mid pack points. Weird.

As for Merc. What a mess of it all.

That being said, it seems EVERY team is struggling to get to grips with how to work the tires. Seems every race only 1 or 2 teams get it right and every one else is left wondering where they went wrong.

Michael had a much better race than Nico but both suffered with tyres.

Seriously, the sport is a joke with the current tyres, they're just limiting everyones pace competely. bah.

Yeah, interestingly is how much harder is to progress from last to the points, because the field is so close. It seems mediums were faster , so I don't get their strategy? He can do one stint with softs and next ones with medium.

Sad display by F1 having all their drivers sooooooo afraid of their taking cars to the limit of the drivers ability cause of weakly structured tires as mandated by the FIA.

And yet we all watch this train wreck unfolding.

Looking at the best sector times, it's quite shocking to see Schumacher in 19th for sector 2 - and no better than 12th and 13th in sectors 1 and 2.

The European part of the season usually paints a clearer picture of the pecking order.

It is sad though, podiums were possible in two of the races and Schumacher has only two points to his name. The worst start to his F1 season EVER despite having a winning car.....

Yeah, Schumi wants tires that forgive more...

He seems frustrated and said that he just can give 50,60% around the corners.

You fail miserably.
Can you compare W01 with Lotus 2012? About the podium even Perez can do it. Romen too. And if you miss it, MS have problems every race.

Not a bad result considering where he started, but still... two points doesn't do his season justice. I think it's very likely he's going to win a race this year, it's just a matter of when circumstances line up. Schumi's had some of the worst luck of anyone on the grid this season. :well:
