Doing Q3 on hard and qualifying 9th (or higher if some cars don't run) could be an interesting strategy. Don't think they'll do it, but would be interesting to see.

Is there anything better to do? I wonder..

Yeah, 7th and 9th.

I don't understand why they sent Nico out if that was the max time.

Yep, they MUST do it. The hard tyre is the better for him.

I think he did a reasonable job in Q1 (depending how hard he used his softs). His hard time proved to be enough in the end but okay. Q2 was really on it, just like Rosberg! Dead heat, I say. Q3, smart cookie Schumi. Could be a good move in the end, being on the right side of the grid.

Rosberg qualified maybe 2 early.

Who knows.
I think Schumacher showed hs pace in Q2, and his hard tyre choice makes sense, because Rosberg's Q3 fell back. There was too many who were going for pole.

Smart qualifying from MS given what we know about the compettition, and this sort of qualifying at spain isn't qualifying, it's basically sunday warm up before Sunday, as qualifying as we knew it doesn't exist anymore.

Remember Schumahcer didn't set a Q3 time at all last year at Spain and he did well.

Pretty positive ending of the day then at least. Hards clearly are better for Michael. 1 set of softs saved too. He is in a better position than Nico I guess.

Now Michael has a tyre choice for the start bu I am afraid they'll pick the worst strategy. Again.

Really disappointing qualifying format, with the tyre issues...I hate e fact that the tyres are preventing drivers to not even run in Q3.

It was not new set of softs and he wasn't going for the fastest time. It was tactical time, they expected others to not set time. Also I think they compromised heavily Q speed for the race.

How's the weather for tomorrow as I read that there are chances of rain?
If that is so all that strategy might go down the drain.

We saw Schumi definitely better on the harder compound with the reverse on Rosberg's side. How are we supposed to interpret this? This is more a tyre issue than anything else. Look at the gulf between Hamilton and Button or Hamilton and the rest of the grid for that matter. Is Hamilton suddenly god? So Maldonado is the new boy wonder with that front row start for Williams. Glory gained, not through changing weather conditions, but the tyres.... gimme more... :| :(

Let's just wait and see how it goes. He seems to have the hard tyres sussed for whatever reason. I don't even know if credit should be given to him for that and it may well be very different tomorrow with different temperatures and the cars full of fuel. We are at the mercy of circumstance rather than ability. If the circumstance is good, then the ability will show. Otherwise it will be the same as with the rest of the season so far.

Even though he lost the clean starting position, I for once, am optimistic about the race tomorrow. He simply can not be SO unlucky once more. So I expect a trouble free first lap, and a finishing position in top 5. With a shot at the podium, if the finishing laps goes according to plan.

Well, I was wondering if it could actually get worse for Hamilton and McLaren... and it has. No reason why Schumacher's run of circumstance cannot continue. I smell an awful season ahead unless something changes fundamentally. :well:

What do you expect? I was going to bed. :p Lets see.
Sakae it is WWE, we know, but until MS is there , I will have to watch the show.
Looking last year strategy I expect this - soft, soft, soft, hard,(hard). For 3 or 4 stops.

3 time WDC Niki Lauda says that the performance of Michael Schumacher is a bland disappointment. No wonder Michael does not look happy - being beaten by Williams' and Saubers....

Let's see for the race - as I said some time ago, it is time for Michael to deliver on the track, not just before the microphone.

Yeah, Alonso too, Vettel too, Button, Webber, Rosberg too. Aditya I think you missed changes we have now in F1. Focus my friend. You still live in the past. Williams and Sauber cars are not worse than the rest. Williams is the most consistent team in first 4 races. Can I ask ,did you see Michael doing fast lap in Q3???

So getting bumped off by Grosjean, one tech failure and two team failures later, it is Schumachers fault according to Lauda? That is a laugh.

2nd lap is my bet too -- with Kobayashi slamming into Schumacher's back

And if ever he survives after Lap 2, Merc will make sure MS retires shortly after his 1st pit stop

If he still survives after his 1st pit stop, then that only means one thing: A typical 8th-10th finish.

But of course, MS could use some luck today. Who knows. Wish him the best for today's race!

Of course not, Michael was preferring not to drive in Q3 - that was part of why Lauda was upset with Schumacher. Michael is not even trying...

I trust you are stinking up the Button and Webber threads too. After all, they both got beaten by Michael - they must be really crap.

Or... that just wouldn't be taking circumstances into account, would it?
