MSC was fastest in S2. and the only thing he did different was driving directly over that bump down the casino turn. perhaps that is a time-saver.

jesus schumi taking his hand off and adjusting brake bias through tabac?!!

Super cool, but I think it says more about the car. The drivers were driving one-handed up Eau Rouge in 2010 due to the F-Duct. If the car sticks, and the Mercedes is clearly working great, he can afford to make such adjustments as there are no corrections to be made.

For someone who has had racing experience you really do make some strange comments.

Birelman must have been one of the hundreds of backmarkers Schumacher used to lap 7-8 times a race in his heyday.

DC just couldn't help himself in commentary today having a dig could he. I know he was probs joking. Just cringeworthy when he was saying all hail Mark Webber and laughing.

possibly, but still, that amazed me. Would be interesting to see if any other drivers did it.

Top stuff from a legend! Screw the penalty, he just proved his detractors wrong on one of the toughest circuits at which he's never been very quick over a single lap even in the Ferrari days (i.e since 2001 mostly cause of the Bridgestones)

DC has begrudging respect for MS like so many. They are in awe of his achievments his speed (then and NOW) but also revel in the bad personality traits too.

Respect to DC though, he does have much respect and does pay high high compliments to MS frequently. If only Derek Warwick wasn't such a prick......

Does he not know that he will have another 5 place grid penalty going against him? He should make this up by qualifying faster!

Good job you're here eh? He took it on board.

That penalty was so harsh, F1 stewards screwing the competition since... who know when.

Awesome lap. It just shows he still has plenty of speed left in him. Everyone around him is elite or top class so we shouldn't see any incidents with any ex GP2 kamikaze drivers..

I'm smiling like the first time i got laid

Well I'm a bit fearfull of Grosjean. At the widest track he bumped into Schumacher, what will happen at the narrowest track?ll

Fantastic performance from Schumi. Definitely shouted "YES!" as he crossed the line into 1st. Just a pity that he's starting from 6th. Hope for a podium tomorrow, but as for Canada, who knows.... ;)

Seeing Schumi driving one handed through the swimming pool chicane reminded me just why I became a fan of his in 1991. Awesome stuff indeed!

Worried about Grosjean though, he seems to like taking a bite out of Schumis Merc.

What a lap. That was some brilliant stuff. He still has it.

YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!

And by the way this Michael's performance changes the history books a bit: only three drivers, namely Emilio Guiseppe Farina (47 years, 79 days at 1954 Argentine Grand Prix), Juan Manuel Fangio (46 years, 209 days at 1958 Argentine Grand Prix) and Sir Jack Arthur Brabham (44 years, 17 days at 1970 Spanish Grand Prix), were older when they took the pole.

Moreover today Michael has become the oldest polesitter in "modern" Formula One World Championship, which started in 1981 (as originally it was World Driver's Championship in 1950-1980). Previous record was hold by Mario Gabriele Andretti, who took pole at 1982 Italian Grand Prix being 42 years, 196 days old.

Schumacher got the 2nd qualifying win for MGP this year.
Not unexpected at all. It was just matter of time.
He can find a race win somewhere like Monza, Montreal or Suzuka.
BBC guys never ever forgive him he spoiled their weekend.

'some' monaco magic? This is the track where driver skills counts the most. And he beat all of them supposed way better than him drivers. Vettel, Hamilton, Raikonen, Alonso and his teammate, qualify specialist Rosberg, to make the qual stats 3 - 3 overal. That is not 'some' magic. Thats all skill and talent.

But, lets spare a thought for guys like Byron. The grapes are very sour today indeed, as Michael notches pole number 69 on his list. :)
