Copyright prevents me from posting a photo but the JPS drivers were often seen in these bomber-style jackets.

In particular there is a photo in Chris Harvey's "Elite, Elan, Europa" book of Emmo sitting atop a JPS-liveried Lotus Elan +2 Estate (!) doing a lap of honour at Brands in 1972.

So the short answer is - the design is genuine - all you now need to do now is decide whether it's a replica....

Way back when, I remember my wife purchasing a jacket in JPS colours from the souvenir shop at Brands. It was in a different style to this one, but nevertheless doesillustrate that something branded as JPS may not have had anything directly to do with the team.

Caveat emptor

Which is of course the best possible advice when buying anything like this on eBay. It could be genuine, but there were thousands of cheap copies around in the 70s, I recall seeing them on sale back then in several shops in Carnaby Street, so buyers didn't even have to travel to Brands Hatch to get one.

It appears to be being auctioned for a very good cause and perhaps the donors can provide some provenance?

(PS I've e-mailed them to ask.)

Two e-mails from Jim Dudley of Tiger Racing:

'Hi – Tony – Thanks for mail – it was given to me (used) as a gift around 6 years ago – pretty sure its original –regards Jim

Jim Dudley(Director)'

'Hi – Tony – I was given it by a friend – I have never worn it and it needs a dry clean –bit worn in places –but original I think – Regards Jim'

.......That's as much as he seems to be able to tell me.
