have they uploaded an onboard of his pole lap. Lewis' lap looked pretty clean (although he said he made a mistake) so Seb's must have been alright.

What is the German translation? What does that mean?

I think the german for that basically means something about showing your true hand or true performance, but its one of those phrases that doesn't translate into english well.
didn't he once say "we are red bull, we are horny for success" last year when he tried to say they were desperate to win.

I'm not sure what the English equivalent for this phrase is but yea it simply means that there is nothing to hide (in regard to speed in this context).

And the German equivalent of the word horny (geil) is also used in non-sexual context.

all im going to say is lets just wait and see how vettel performs in today's race... he has never had a Hamilton behind him in a car that is nearly as fast as his own RB7. i think vettel is about to have the fight of his life when the lights go out today... Hamilton is coming for you Vettel

Vettel said in the drivers interview that he dropped his pants in Quali. We're checking the telemetry. #F1

World Champion Vettel Uber Alles, Ja?!

The quickest driver in f1 for the past three years does it again. Remember Suzuka 2009 when he had just one opportunity and won pole position. Vettel is the king of one lap shoot-outs.

Seb Vet reminds me of Senna. He does the fewest laps out of all the top guys, saving his tyres for the race, then goes out and does the job. Superb.

Tomorrow who knows who will win given the stupid tyre regulations but, we do know who the quickest driver is in f1.

The session that stands out the most from when Vettel had 1 lap to deliver is Shanghai 2009. 1 lap in Q1, Q2 & Q3 and he stuck it on pole.

I have to agree with Bernie that the two best drivers in the field today are Alonso and Vettel.

It is just 1 race out of 19 this season. I don't think Vettel would lose any sleep if Hamilton beats him today. He will pack up his bag and leave for Shanghai still leading the WDC standing with Hamilton.

Webber also had some junk teammates...

No, he had junk cars!! He put the Minardi, Jaguar & Williams dogs further up the grid in qualifying than they deserved to be. Easy to say he's just average if you only look at his results driving sh!t cars.

Absolutely agree. Seb seems to have adjusted to the Pirelli's better than anyone else in the field.

It's impressive how he deals with the tyre situation. Just when it looked like Hamilton comes dangerously close it became clear he was just nursing his fresh tyres and then drove away. Also two overtakes this season without a crash so far :smoking:

Speaking as a Hamilton fan, Vettel deserves full credit for being one of the best qualifiers on the grid – very possibly the best.

It's often been easy to say that Vettel's pole positions have been down to the car rather than the driver, but in qualifying this morning it was very hard to say whether it was talent or the car that put him infront of Lewis. Either way, it takes balls of steel to nail it on your final lap when you know you have to go a few tenths faster.

What I admire (or fear, depending on how you look at it!) in Vettel is his ability to pull out lightning-quick laps from the second the lights turn green. Other people need a few laps to get up to speed, and by that stage Vettel is seconds clear of the rest of the field. It's what Senna used to do, and it certainly worked for him!

This place would be sooo much more enjoyable if everyone looked for the best in their chosen driver's opponents instead of being uber negative. How anyone can seriously doubt the talent of SV, LH or FA is beyond me.

Solid, composed, decent. Give him a good car and he will deliver, it's shaping up to be a very good season for him.

Yeah good season for him. But hopefully the season wouldn't be a mirror of 2009, when button/brawn ruined the season.

Yes he has taken it a step up after his WDC, calm composed and no errors. That combined with a more reliable Red Bull will make for him being the 2011 WDC. Well done Seb.

That was a sublime performance from beginning to end, the birth of a new dawn, in the near future Google will treat Sebastian Vettel in the same way they treat Chuck Norris..but seriously, a 100% record for the 1st 2 races is superb, he could have been under pressure in this one, but if he was he certainly wasn't phased by it.

What are the odds for making it 3 out of 3 next week, that really would be something, but i think if he has the car, he's more than capable, a pleasure to see him demonstrating his craft, and no ridiculous boasts either, his feet seem firmly planted on terra firma.

Vettel increasinlg strikes me as 'efficient'; doing what he needs to when he needs to. No great amateur dramatics, just getting the car on pole and from there to the finish line intact and in first place.

Good controlled drive from Seb again. My impression is that the WDC has been a massive boost to his maturity, he does not feel the need to prove his pace at every opportunity on the track, he has the confidence to approach each session as part of a long season.

Although I think Nick Heidfeld should get an extra-large Lindt bunny from him this year, because the extra 5 seconds gap he gave him to the pursuing McLarens turned what could have been a sweaty race with troublesome KERS into a breezy afternoon.

Really intense race today between Seb and Hamilton. Was worried for a while that Vettel was losing it and Hami had pace in hand, but when Lewis's tyres went off and Seb picked up the pace, I knew Vettel had it in the bag. Glad to see a good fight for the lead today, and it makes it all the more sweeter that Vettel won it. Great tactical drive from him today, and here's to many more in 2011.
