Alonso is awesome this year. but its true, that eyes of a racing purist are needed to realise that, coz he is not driving for wins in the most races.
but i had a lot fun this year watching him.

Since Germany last year he has been fantastic. 2006 like if you ask me...

Hopefully Ferrari provide him a solid car next year as both he and Ferrari are overdue a championship.

Nice blog entry, for the first time I got the feeling that he wrote it, the stuff about the "bad word" it's something that some spanish journos made up and he is aware of it, this is not your typical PR stuff.

Well Vettel seems to agree with you

Vettel qualified behind Ferrari's pole sitting Alonso on the Singapore street circuit, but said he still rated his chances of driving his Red Bull to the top of the podium.

"The further up you are the more it helps but obviously the race can still change a couple of things.
I think Fernando started here from 15th on the grid two years ago and won the race," said the 23-year-old German.

He smiled as he paused; the reporters laughing as they realised Vettel was referring to the famous 2008 race, when then-Renault teammate Nelson Piquet Jr. crashed deliberately to trigger an opportune safety car period for Alonso.

I like the blog, anything that drivers write is interesting but sometimes you feel that they don't write their blogs at all, I remember that they used a PR interview to write one of the Alonso's blog entry some time ago, so that's not really a blog. If they want a PR blog, then, just realeasy a press release under the team name, a blog it's something different to me.

Fernando goes 'optimistic in the race weekend!

“Here in Singapore it’s true it’s one of our best opportunities in the remaining races, because the characteristics of the circuit are similar to Monte Carlo, we were quite competitive there, and we have soft and supersoft tyres, and that is normally the combination that we like most.

“It should be a good weekend us, but a victory is never easy, or is never close enough when we are fighting with Red Bull and McLaren. It’s going to be tough, but hopefully closer than some other races.”

Good for Seb to try and gain a psychological advantage. I'm guessing he's learned that he could use use any extra advantage he could get, as he has experience losing on this track to Fernando while sitting in a faster car. ;)

I don't share his optimism. If the car had the mechanical grip it had in Monaco then I would be reasonably optimistic but one of the cars great strengths has gone for a ball of shit.

Anyway... Alonso has put a car that had no business being there, on the podium in Singapore before. Hoping for a similar performance from him.

He should get a bit nastier, though - his comment is about the nicest one Alonso has heard in his last two visits to Singapore! :p

I suppose you are talking about 2008, don't you? Because, his last year's car was fast.

OK then. Those Walt Disney racetracks are funny and this kind of things happens... I think that Olivier Panis won only a GP and was in Monaco so... anything is possible...

Like any other track. Some drivers seem to consistently excel at them regardless of the car, while others can't seem to get a handle of it no matter how good their car is.

Same thing, you are right. No difference...

I don't like Monaco, I don't like Valencia, I don't like Singapore, etc... It does not matter who wins or who stands on the podium. For me, those GPs are so d... boring...

I don't agree. Those Walt Disney racetracks are a joke... Same about those tracks in the middle of the desert... I am so glad this season Bahrein was out of the calender....

And sorry, I'm done with this conversation because I'm our of the topic...

As the saying goes, "ladran, Sancho, señal de que cabalgamos" ;)

PS For the non-Spanish speakers, the saying translates as "There's barking, Sancho, it shows that we're riding" — in other words, to succeed, one has to face criticism from other people who are not in the same situation.

Attributed to El Quijote, it is in fact an abbreviated version of the following exchange:

Sancho: Señor, señor, que nos ladran los perros.
Don Quijote: Señal que cabalgamos, Sancho.

Sancho: Sir, sir, that dogs bark at us.
Don Quijote: A sign that we ride, Sancho.

In a definite way you are very poor. Why the heck do you need to bring that story back? You belong to the group of people who cannot accept how freakingly good and talented driver Fernando is. If this is the most you are able to, you had better to go to the playground.
