To be fair this time it was my fault. I just named Kimi but I did it without malice, just saying that Alonso (as Kimi) are better with short air. :(

No need for all this fight or flammebaiting remarks, every time you guys do it a japanese catgirl dies.

There we go with Kimi again in the Alonso thread ...

Sorry. totally my bad. I never should have mentioned any other driver in Alonso thread, at least I should have been wise enough not mention Kimi, oh well.

I wont bother you no more in this thread, hopefully all others who are not die-hard fans of Alonso will do the same and you can have this thread all for yourself - no mention of any other drivers, no critizing of Alonso, just praising Fernando and ignoring rest of the field in every post (Oh yeah, and ofcourse cursing of Newey who designes so great cars that even midfielders like RedBull drivers can compete with Alonso).

I don't think people have a problem with naming other drivers, as Alonso is not isolated at F1, Don't exaggerate things so conveniently.

The problem are phrases of the likes of "Hey Kimi, well done for getting the last WDC for Ferrari" of yours in a thread dedicated to Alonso (yes, for both critics and praise).

Not bad I guess, 5th or 6th was the best today, I don't know if the small mistake did something more than the fact that he could not have a new set of soft for the race. All and all, Massa was better today.

Nobody has a new set. Alonso has at least one quite fresh since he aborted his first flying lap. He knew McLaren and Red Bull were very hard to beat and therfore he gave it all and took huge risk. That's Fernando, he loves racing and is never content with worse position than the first.

I actually think there was a 30.6 or there abouts in the car. Alonso was 2 tenths slower than Massa in the first sector... Oh well, Massa was just better today.

I believe he should have beaten Massa because he looked faster since FP1. He has been very impressive in S3 all weekend, but he wasn't good enough in S1 when it mattered.

The only good news for Fernando is that he starts from the clean side and it could be useful for tomorrow..

The only bad news is that Webber isn't one of the cars in front of him, which would be a guaranteed place to gain. He might jump Massa if he's lucky but I'd be surprised if he gets ahead of either of the Macs or Vettel. And over a race distance it's very hard to see him getting third unless there's a collision up ahead. Ever since Silverstone this pretty much story of the season.

Well, the start is gonna be crazy with Button wanting P1, Hamilton mad and Massa alongside Hamilton, so as long as he is not involved in any incident and Massa don't go nuts to block Fernando (like in many other ocassions), I'm optimistic, the problem is not how much can he gain in the first part of the race, but how much he will lose in the last part of the race because tyres or car perfomance.

Great race by Fernando. A bit disappointed we didn't win but 2nd place is probably strongest performance since Silverstone. Still a chance of 2nd in WDC.

Amazing perfomance again, shame that he don't have a slighty better car. From 5th to 2nd with the 3rd best car and fighting toe to toe with Button and Vettel. Class act.

Please, explain me how could Fernando fight for the win with a worse car than the McLaren's and Red Bull's?
This man is clearly the best, no doubt about is.

Superb race from Alonso today! Vettel may be the new double world champion but Alonso reminded everyone that he hasn't given up fighting yet.

More puzzling is that he has not won WDC in 5 years despite driving in absolute top teams with WDC capable cars

Man of the race today? I don't think so.

He has been the man of the Formula-1 since years. I really believe this man is miles ahead of anyone else. I love his talent.

Yes, Alonso has 'superb' cars in 2008 and 2009...

For the last two years Red Bull have had a car which was around 1 (!!!!!!) second faster than the Ferrari's.

In 2007 Alonso was silly with his mind games, but he learned from that.

A very great drive from Alonso. Routine stuff from him. I was expecting him to get past Button as his tires were fresher than Button's by I guess 2 laps and he should have gone for it when Button was caught napping. After McLaren woke Button up, he had no chance to match the much faster car McLaren and had to settle for 2nd.

I loved how RBR asked Vettel "not to take risks" with Alonso.

Simply a Brilliant Drive from Nando!

That's why so many adore him, and fans of certain "other" drivers can't stand him! We just need a strong car from the off next year, and we might all be in for something special. His driving is certainly worthy of it!

8th podium of the season. Pretty impressive. (Compare that to Massa who hasn't finished better than 5th, bit shocking really...)

This boy is a f@cking machine... He keeps putting the car where it doesn't belong. Button and Alonso are pulling at my heart strings, Vetttel too. This year I've seen some awesome drives from that trio.

Now Fezza just need to give him a car that is capable of fighting Vettel all the way and a new rivalry will be born.

Races like this make me actually want Ferrari to be competitive next year. He is Prost-esque in his lack of flair but phenomenal speed.

Vettel needed 1 point, same for him if 2nd or 3rd. Vettel would have easily passed Alonso with his 1 sec faster car and DRS

if he would have easily passed him, then he would have done it before redbull told him to back off.

really, didnt seem that easy to me, tried a couple of times and then his team helped him out by telling him to hold station, he may have got past but maybe not

Are you claiming that youngest 2 WDC cannot pass Alonso with 1 sec faster car + DRS?

There's nothing to explain, because you're right and he really is a phenomenal driver and certainly at the top of his game now and easily head and shoulders above his closest rivals.

Having said that, please don't post the same message in multiple threads. This is the right place to do it. Thank you.

He is ATM a silent killer of course like Prost was and Button is, but it seems you have forgotten how many times he has showed his instinct killer and agressiveness on track so he doesn't lack that at all. There are two Fernando Alonsos, one that we saw today: very fast, calm, smart and methodical and another Alonso that is: quick to anger, agressive, impulsive and impatient. Although it is clear that he is becoming more and more like the first with every year that past.

Alonso was just superb today. Aside from Button, I'd label him as the driver of the day. Ferrari didn't look quite competitive on Friday but they turned things around with Alonso and he was genuinly fighting for the win in the last 5 laps. Button had to go aggressive in fuel consumption just to give him an answer, hence his early park after the chequered flag.

Great drive by Alonso. Sometimes, I find myself wishing a spec series and watching Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel and Schumacher in the same car. What a buzz that would be!

Kind of goes under the radar given Buttons win and Vettels title but Alonso was superb again today.
Do you think he would've had Vettel if the SC didn't come out. It would probably have been very close

He didn't complain, he was asked. I don't think he could care less about Alonso.
