Is this for real? 7 long hours of meetings, interviews and sponsor events in one day? I bet my house he definitely is not happy...

Alonso's Tweeting is a real eye opener! I didn't think that he would tweet so much be he has  Super fit athlete too!
It might be 7 hours of sponsor commitiments but he'd be really well catered for.Just make a few speaches, get fed, maybe some entertainment and knowing Alonso he would bring an engineer or 2 along to discuss the real business of race prep!

I think I know what you adhere to, but I reckon that perception is heavily influenced by how / what we sometimes hear from his radio during races. If you only look at the actual driving (the only thing that ultimately matters), whatever frustrations and emotions he might feel hardly lead to any driving mistakes or incidents.

True, and I certainly wasn't implying it did lead to that. Although that perception, for me, is more influenced by those waving fists outside the cockpit than what I hear on his radio. It's not nice for anyone. Still not a reason for me to kinda support him this season, but some things in his past haven't been pretty so I can understand why some people cannot stand the guy.

Btw - no you cant write such an article about Vettel as you claim. Try it. And if one can in 5 years time , i will be dissappointed.

Probably right, but obviously so far in his career Vettel hasn't had it nearly as tough as Alonso. Let's see in 5 years...

Fair enough. Would be dead boring if everybody loved him anyway. :D

"Not nice" is a fitting description of fist shaking BTW. It's only a gesture, and as long as that's all he does with his fists, an empty one on top of it. Pretty low on the list of embarassing things drivers do on track.

LOL at people getting offended because Alonso waves a fist at someone who has blocked him. They should watch some NHL hockey to get a little perspective.
As for his reluctance to overtake Massa, just remember how many times the Brazilian was involved in collisions last year alone. Hamilton and Schumacher could tell a few stories. The worst thing a driver can do is collide with his teammate. Much better strategy to have the team move him over.
At least they didn't radio Massa and tell him, 'you're a slug and holding up Alonso, get the hell out of the way'. At least they were respectful.

I must say that I find it hilarious that these guys, who are driving at high speed and risking a major accident, still find time to vent out their frustration the "traditional" way. My favourite one has to be Alonso on Ralf Schumacher in Monaco - he is in the middle of a crash, and still he finds the time to show his displeasure

Really, I think those guys have more than enough capacity to do a bit of gesturing in the car without becoming a safety hazard. We shouldn't measure them by the same criteria as grandpa in city traffic.

I love watching him wrestle an f1 car finding those crucial tenths , its a pleasure to watch man/machine on the limit :) . Just hope ferrari can give that car better performance throughout the year

Shame about the little mistake, it think the only joy we will get from him tomorrow is a great start, in case it's possible starting that behind. Not they way we wanted to start the season.

After his mistake(today Q2), Alonso said to the Italian TV that despiste his mistake he is still 1 second ahead(faster) of Massa( TRUE, but a very cheap shot if you ask me).
He really lacks class.

p.s: no need for links, ask any Italian friend you may know.
p.s2: it's over for MASSA

EDIT: with hindsight, he may have wanted to say that 1 sec faster than MASSA was already the maximum he could do. But still.. :(

I thought Massa had a decent chance atleast in qualifying with Alonso years ago, but eh.. it's painful to see what a joke the guy is now.
With all this new blood Grosjean, Ricciardo, Perez, Vergne, i think Ferrari should look somewhere else.

It's not even good for Alonso because with "this" Massa, he(Fernando) doesn't have anything to compare to.
Massa has now enough money in the bank to safely retire and look after his family full time.

I've said it many times: Alonso would have been better off at McLaren. Probably a 4 times WDC by now. Ferrari are dreadful and this car is a dog.

Also I hope we aren't seeing a return of the Alonso of Renault years in 2008-9, and Ferrari early 2010 - overpushing a slower car and making tonnes of mistakes. It won't help at all.
And I agree, his sideswipe at Massa, if accurately reported, is pretty cheap and should not have been said.

He's frustrated and rightly so. The mistake however was also due to the frustration and that's a bad thing. He should keep a cool head, aim for a solid points finish and move on. Very easy to say, I know.

He's frustrated and I see him go 'Ham2011' this year. Leaving these guys without a fast car for too long is a recipe for disaster,Vettel got lower than front row for the first time after god knows how long and his body language says 'I'm angry, disappointed, frustrated'.

It seems reality's hit FA hard.

How many millions of ££ is he paid to make an outrageously sloppy and rookie mistake by braking on the grass?

He has the mind of a champion and thinks only of Victory. Failure and giving up are NOT concepts that enter his mind. I find him both indomitable and tenacious, which are just a couple of reasons I and so many others support him!

Exactly, he was refering to the fact he couldn't have done a much better time, although I've read he had used tyres in that first try, anyone can confirm this?

When he went into the gravel he was using a used set of softs, he has 4 sets of new tyres for the race.

I just hope the car is better in race trim if that's even possible so he can put that new rubber to good use. It's going to interesting to see what happens that's for sure, just hope he doesn't get into any trouble in the first lap since he is around a few rookies. Fingers crossed for him.

Not a little mistake.

I'm a huge Alonso fan but one has to be realistic. That mistake was crucial. With the laptime he posted in Q2 he almost could have been 9th in Q3, and I'm sure Fer would have improved his Q2 time in Q3 (the track was also better), so that's probably 8th place. From 12 to 8 that's 4 places and potential points that will be crucial at the end of the season if the team does recover the lost ground.

What if he could not make the car go faster? He was already a second faster than Massa was able to go with a full session. This may not have actually cost him anything at all.

Because he is arguably one of the top two driver on the grid, with either Lewis or Vettel.

I respect Alonso alot and feel he is one of the best talents on the grid, but history says he doesn't take failure very well. He's had 2 seasons now at Ferrari and been very patient as they've been working on their relationship, but I think he was expecting them to deliver in his third. I just hope he keeps his cool this year if things don't go well and he doesn't ruin yet another relationship with a team. :well:

I'm not a Ferrari fan and I'm not really a Fernando fan but his mistake, IMO, was due to having to wrestle that dog of a car around corners.
We were watching Fernando prior to his off, and the cornering angles he was having to meet just to hit the corners at a vaguely competitive speed were nuts, it was only a matter of time before he would reach a point where control wouldn't be so easily achieved.

Anyway, I feel sorry for Fernando and think he deserves a better car, especially after the last couple of years.............
