Alonso - onboard - q3 - Montmelo

nice!

on 0:26, and 0:54 he is making some adjustment (with his left hand going) in the cockpit - what is that?

Giancarlo Minardi in an interview in ElCONFIDENCIAL.com about Alonso:

"For me is number one. In Italy is well aware that it is Fernando and not Ferrari who is delivering the results, this is very strong."

The double meaning is so beautiful... perhaps

I'm a huge Alonso fan but I have to say that he looks like an emo by writting all these "life stuff" sentences... :rotfl:

call me superstitious.. but every driver who changed his helmet to silver or gold chrome... experiences bad luck

or put it the other way: name a driver who won with a chrome coloured helmet

He "almost" won last year with a gold helmet, so if 2nd is bad luck, I take it for this year too ;)

Remember Kimi@McLaren and his special Steinmentz helmet with a big diamond in it ?

Well, Kimi crashed his car, the diamond fell from his helmet ans was never recovered :p

I thought that was Christian Klien in the Jaguar in 2004, when the diamond was on the nose cone

One thing I notice about Alonso's onboards is how smooth he is. Yes he is aggressive but smooth with little corrections, he just commits to the corner and drives through it. Very different to Michael for example these days who is constantly sawing at the wheel, and fighting the car, almost go kart style.

Maranello, 21 May – “The Championship is in our own hands.” Luca di Montezemolo chose to give the Scuderia a boost and a show of confidence through a personal letter addressed to all the staff, on the eve of the team’s departure for the Monaco Grand Prix.

“The championship is very open and so far, there has not been one dominant force,” wrote the Ferrari President. “A series of circumstances and the work done here to improve the car, as well as Alonso’s great ability, has led to us leading the Championship after five rounds. We must capitalize on that, with each one of us giving our very best at home and at the race track, including Massa who must bring home the results we expect from him.

“I know from Domenicali, with whom I am in constant contact, how hard all of you are working,” continues the letter. “Of this I am sure, also because winning the Championship depends only and exclusively on ourselves: on our ability, our creativity, our determination and our desire to show that we are the best.”

I'd like nothing more than to see a Ferrari/Alonso win this coming weekend. I witnessed Niki's win in 1975 and Gilles win in 1981. Fernando winning this weekend would be a real treat.

Curiosidad: el ganador que logró la velocidad media más alta de la historia en Mónaco fue F. Alonso en 2007, 155.5 km/h.

The winner that achieved the fastest average speed in the history of Monaco was F. Alonso in 2007, 155.5km/h.

I think Alonso would have been very cheeky if instead of chips, he had some Pirelli tires drawn in there.

Absolutely gorgeous!  Helmet is already a winner, now just hope he's one on Sunday! The only specialty helmet I like more was Hamilton's Bob Marley tribute from 2010, I think.

By the way, I hope to be wrong, but statistically Alonso is due a DNF soon. Monaco being a street circuit and all... :well:

To be honest, so is the rest of the grid. It is crazy how reliable the cars are these days, but I am off topic.

Alonso's helmet looks nice, but will look nicer on him in person, hopefully with some nice tint on the visor.

Spectacular! Thank Gods it doesn't have any pretentious diamond bull**** on it like worn by Hamilton and Kimi in the past. Not sure if Vettel also did the cringeworthy act of "Mr Diamonds" ?

Now that has style. Probably the first golden helmet in recent times, that does not make the driver look like a pimp / fool. And I am no fan of Alonso.

All McLaren drivers, including Alonso in '07, have had diamonds since '05 I think. It's a sponsorship deal with Steinmetz, so targetting the drivers with your criticism is a touch unfair I would say.

Strangely enough, my first impression from FAs new Monaco design was that it was very Kimi-esque.

- The Monaco -bet on red- is horrible with that red outline, looks like made in photoshop by my 5 years old cousin
- The gold is not enough "gold", it doesn't shine like last year's Monaco helmet
- Too much white on the front and the back
- The above illustration has too many details and is too small, it's not "powerful"
- The illustration looks from the 50-60's while the white stripes look very modern, mixing stuff isn't usually a good way to modernise something, it all has to look integrated.

+ the arrows a badly squeezed in there
+ too many logos at the back: two Ferraris, one chip, two lines of text, Schuberth, neh...

But it's for a good cause, so what the heck.

And Fernando, 2007... he is included in the pretentious diamond bull**** list.

Steinmetz has been a sponsor of McLaren in Monaco Grand Prix many times.
Other drivers included are at least Jenson, Heikki and JPM.
