Fernando's camp is simply trying to say something to his fans - "don't believe everything you see reported".

I know, and I don´t believe everything I see or read as long it´s not comes from a reliable source i.e Fernando himself, his mamger/team, autosport.com and a few others.
I still think it ain´t gonna end the rumours and untrue stories about FA, he has to learn to live with it and try to not bother.
Fernando need only to take responsibility for what he say and do, not for how others understands it. And it´s the same for you and me.

Nup. My life is private - his isn't.

Alonso is making sure that casual women/girl photographs with him, can't abuse his private life taking him for a ride.

Read again as many times you need to understand this phrase: Fernando need only to take responsibility for what he say and do, not for how others understands it. And it´s the same for you and me.

It doesn´t matter if your life is private or if you are a public person. Public persons has also a life as they call "private" as you know ?.
If you don´t understand what I mean, it can´t be helped.

Super job again, the initial reaction at the start was pretty good, same that circuit didn't allow for more, I'm on the fence with the strategy but the team knows better I guess, better to have this than a crash for pushing too much.

WDC leader!!

I have no idea how he's done it. Leading the championship after Malaysia wasn't a huge surprise because anyone can lead after 2 races but now?! The Ferrari is clearly a top car now, so his damage limitation pre-Spanish GP will obviously help. Alonso is my tip for the championship this year!

far from a top car. very luck, vettel, button, and the lotus drivers had poor weekends in quicker cars. Otherwise Alonso would be behind them all. Ferrari need another 0.5

It's not exactly a dog. It can fight for podiums and potentially victories as we saw in Spain. Massa was up there as well so the car is clearly good. Also Alonso beat Button's teammate fair and square... so yes, a top car.

Fantastic result for us! Fernando is leading the championship with a car which was fairly far away from the front in the first four races! This guy is the best racing driver, no doubts about it!

The F2012 is definitely one of the top cars. No it's not the best, but it's up there close. The race pace from the F2012 is comparable to the others. The one lap Quali pace isn't on par. Hamashima has gotten the F2012 to use the tyres well. Fernando is driving perfect.

Alonso is in a class of his own this year. If he doesn't take the title, I would be very disappointed. Right now, he deserves it the most.

Fernando manages to show his class again today! The only driver to be consistently delivering results in this crazy season.

I would say Webber is the other guy matching him for consistency, only a Q2 mess up at Barcelona ruining things. Alonso's level of consistency is higher though.

Masterful class of taking care of the tyres to overtake Hamilton in the pit stop. That inlap was MEGA!
At the beginning i was thinking Alonso was having a bad race, seeing that Massa was faster, but he was just saving his tyres!

What? Did you even watch the race? Mclaren was obviously slower and where was Kimi? I have a word for your thinking but I'm a bit afraid to write it...

Antonio Banderas was right he did get a podium and drove a super race especially that inlap. I hope he can go for the top step in Canada! Avantifer

Until Ferrari is leading the WCC it should not be considered the best car. If Ferrari had the best car Massa would be up there (as he was today) in the standings.

Ferrari has had an average car for half of the races... IMO

From a realistic stance, what could happen tomorrow in normal race conditions:

- Fernando, starting on the clean side, overtakes Grosjean at the start
- he follows Hamilton close, like last year
- and maybe manages to overtake him (or Rosberg) thanks to the strategy, which was good here last year and is generally good in 2012
- Vettel does a good race, as usual, 5th at the flag.

Possible result: 3rd behind Webber and, let's say, Hamilton.

Rankings exemple after the race:

1. Alonso 76
2. Webber 73
3. Hamilton 72
4. Vettel 71

Anyway, I think he will lead the championship tomorrow night ;)

You were very close with your predictions. Congrats!!

I think Ferrari has already realized how big mistake was to stop Alonso so early. He was on his way to get the lead with the amazing pace he showed in the 2 laps before pitting.

But Ferrari decided to stop immediately to put him ahead of Hamilton, and then Alonso started lapping 2 seconds slower than previously.

Too conservative from Ferrari, or maybe they thought that the hard tyres would get very good lap times in the first laps..., not sure.

When Webber and Rosberg pitted I knew Alonso would go mental, and yes of course. Pink pink it was, but was surprised he pitted so early as well. Ferrari probably didn't think they'd struggle so much to get their prime tyres in working mode. Nice podium though, deserving driver is leading the championship.

Very good from Ferrari and Alonso... and Massa!!

They have a very good car now, and Alonso drove very good races when they were weak. Good stuff.

It could have gone both ways. Alonso could have hit the cliff, a safety car could come out, or major sh*t could have happened.

Alonso has been masterful, and now he has the championship lead again and what looks to be a decent car under him as well. Should be a fascinating season.

My respect for Alonso. He is the driver who made the most out of his chances this year. No faults leading the WDC in a car that sucked badly in the first races is a big achievement.

Did you see Fernando AKA The Calculator? Jumps out of the car all sweaty but has done the Championship maths and knows the new table. Wow.

Yes Fernando has really been on the top of his game all year. He has been able to extract the maximum every race + taken every opportunity as they comes to him and together with the team had amazing progress with the car!

An eloge to Felipe as well who could keep up today and be where he should :)

P1 in championship baby! Can't believe it..

I think Alonso may be the only driver in the grid that hasn't gone backwards in a race this year?

Ausstralia 12 to 5
Malaysia 8 to 1
China 9 and 9
Bahrein 9 to 7
Spain 2 and 2
Monaco 5 to 3

Quite impressive and a joy for the fans!

Alonso is so smart.

I saw what he did today with Lewis,he saved the tyres and with much better pace on the pit window gained the position.

When Massa was faster than him,i told my wife: "He is saving now to gain on Lewis later",i had no doubt.

Hope Lewis become as good as him,on overall terms.

As a Hamilton fan, you'd think I'd dislike Alonso but to me he is by far the best driver on the grid. He will always be fast and give it all no matter what car he has. Today, he had a great race car and always he has always capitalizes on his weaker quali runs by making 2 or 3 gains overall in the race position. He knows how to manage these tyres and also knows how to beat others on the track. Today Ferrari did a phenomenal job in gaining so much points and also with their pitstops.

If Hamilton can't win the WDC because he does get inconsistent at times when he isn't on the groove and also McLaren lacks the pure race pace. Then I'd very much want Alonso to win it all. I am tired of Red Bull winning it every year and its not the same emotions or the same passion their drivers or officials carry within themselves. Ferrari has always been #1 to me and I'd love for Lewis to race alongside Alonso in the coming years. Both can certainly learn a thing or two from each other, more on the Lewis side obviously.

I'm really not a fan of the guy but I think you'd have to be a deluded fanboy to deny that Alonso is the best in the world at what he does right now. He managed to pick up great points in a bad car and now the car is great I really think the rest of the pack needs to be very afraid.

In the coming years, I hope to see a Alonso/Hamilton feud, just as other legendary duels we've witnessed in the past.

Time will tell, but two things are sure: 1) they are bloody fast 2) they respect each other = the perfect cocktail in F1
