Hi, can anyone help me with tracking down entry and results details for Frank C Ward, he rallied a Jaguar MK 2 during the late 1950s and I think the early 1960s. He competed in the Tulip Rally in 1958 and 1959, the Monte Carlo Rally in 1958, 1959 and 1960 and there is a clip of him on the 1958 Coupe des Alps driving a red Jaguar MK 2. I think his rally numbers on the Tulips was car 64 in 1958 and car 65 in 1959. I think the co driver on these two events was a G Cooper. Any information on these events or any other events would be much appreciated. Did he ever compete on the RAC?
Thanks Bill.

From Autosport:

1958 Monte
No. 133 Frank Ward / G Cooper, Jaguar 3.4, Reg. no. VRW 24. Finishing position not given, possibly didn’t reach Monte Carlo.

1958 Tulip
FC Ward / G Cooper, Jaguar 3.4, 47th.

1959 Monte
Frank Ward / David Gartside, Jaguar 3.4, 93rd.

1959 Tulip
Frank Ward / Gerry Cooper, Jaguar 3.4, 4th in over 2600cc Touring category (not listed in first 50 overall).

1960 Monte
No. 332 Frank Ward / Michael Cotton, MG Twincam 1600, 130th.

Not mentioned in 1958 Coupe des Alps report.

I’ve not found him in the RAC Rally entry lists 1958 through to 1961.

I recall an F C Ward circuit racing a Jag in the early 60s (Silverstone) and then a Brbham FJ in 63.

Thanks Pete, it was just a guess he might have competed on the RAC. I have now established he was driving car no. 409 on the 1958 Coupe des Alpes, and there is no more than a couple of seconds of his red Jaguar featured on the Shell film of the event. He is stopped at the roadside taking a hammer to one of the red Jaguars front wings, following its argument with something fairly solid.
RAP, Thanks also for the Silverstone info. I do know he was a member of the BARC at the time and the Bugatti Owners Club in 1964. Cheers, Bill
