There were 2 further test days scheduled for this year, but one has been superseded by another event, and the other due to take place on Thursday September 6th is no longer on the website but appears on a list of events in the cafe.

While I was working I never found time to get to Mallory on a Wednesday. Now I have lots of free time, so I headed up there last Friday for the bike and sidecar test day.

Of course, for the snapper, Mallory is a dream and the variety of two and three wheeled machinery was really good. However, I am not very good at identifying bikes where the name isn't clearly printed on the tank ...

A couple of intriguing three wheeled car-like "sidecar" class vehicles. Any info gratefully received !

Looking at the list of events at Mallory, it underlines how most circuits make their money from non competitive events like track days, testing etc. That's why entry fees for club racing are now so high.

An excellent gallery, many thanks for posting. The chap riding the Velocette, (350?) must be a big man as I know how big the Velocette is. A pal at school was given a non runner 350 Velo for his 15th with direction to overhaul it and make it all work by his 16th, which he did very successfully. It is nice to see a Vincent 1000cc outfit, which takes me back to a similar rig which a neighbour had when I was a small lad. The gymnastics of the passengers remain intriguing. In many ways it takes me back to my youth as an ardent fan of Fritz Scheidegger, pioneer of the kneeler IIRC.

The No.27 certainly looks like a Berkeley.

At a meeting at Cadwell Park in 2015, the No.27 was described as a Berkeley T60.  Engine was said to be 1293cc and the crew was Steve Hutchinson and Julie Kay.

At that meeting, there was another T60 (No.19), with 900cc engine, driven by Jim Teagles with no passenger, just "ballast".

The British Historic Racing Club have a meeting at Mallory on 13 April https://www.vmcc.net...ion-Runs-Events

There are some 2018 results here ... Hutchinson still in No.27, passenger now called Millington (see event 12) https://www.ukclubsp...g-round-5-2018/

It may also identify other people for you.

There are MSA & ACU test days listed for April 11th & 25th, and May 8th (cars in the morning and bikes in the afternoon)..

Mallory Park, please note that the MSA has rebranded and is now known as Motorsport UK.

So will they now be abbreviated to MUK?

Three wheelers: There is so much potential to "cheat" with a Berkeley using the right BMC bits and tyres. It is to the credit of bike competitors that they put the things to go racing for the fun of it.

Apparently not as the blue blazer brigade didn't see that one coming. Thus we will have to refer to the body as "Motorsport UK" - personally I still call it the MSA (old habits!)

Older habit makes me think of (and refer to) it as the RAC-MSA . . .

They have asked that it is not abbreviated. Some years ago the Football Association had a similar idea to be Football UK but they thought better of it!

“FA” is not a whole lot better, in some folks’ minds at least.

Many moons ago, for perhaps two days or so, my then work department was officially renamed Combustion, Reheat and Pollution.

When we were students at Hatfield College of Knowledge in the 1950s, we founded the South Hertfordshire Institute of Technologists - and we were all in it of course!

In the nanny state UK how have they shut up a Vincent? At full song they sound glorius but when muffled they do not go.

That is what killed them in speedway here in Oz.

The custom Mini Minor is well??????? different?

Contrary to what you may hear in the colonies , our nanny can be surprisingly benign - as long as you don't believe every story in the more reactionary tabloids. That's why I was watching very noisy racers last weekend , and will be doing the same the next. And it's also why some of the more  bonkers VSCC folk can drive aero- engined Edwardian monsters on the road  . And why I have lost most of the hearing in my left ear. ....

I'm afraid that since I gave up the day job and with it the opportunity to drop in on a Wednesday, en route, my visits have been limited to the yearly VSCC race meeting.

Guess what? For some reason, which I've yet to see properly explained, the VSCC are not going there this year.

Anyone know why? Last time I looked at the VSCC website there was no cogent explanation and not a little angst from competitors, spectators and just about everyone else involved.

Thanks Giraffe. In your last batch, the single seater that features four times, is that a Tecno? Or am I hopelessly wrong?  :drunk:
