Tony, a BIG BIG "thank you" from these wonderful pictures. The variety adds greatly to the interest..... I mean..who would have thought to include..........a Vanguard for goodness sake.....brilliant !!
( No, I'm NOT a Vanguard fanatic..it's just great to see it out and circulating)
I am unlikely ever to get to Mallory..Wednesday or any other day, so these pictures at least allow a peek at some of the informality that is vintage racing ( sometimes)
I know it take time and effort to take these pics and post them.

It is greatly appreciated

As long as you are a Doctor rather than a Politician, I trust you mfd. Thanks for that!

The Vanguard owner told me he was shaking it down for Goodwood now he's had an acceptance, as it's not run this season. IIRC It has previously made the grid at the Revival on two occasions.

For info., the Maserati 250F belongs to Joaquin Folch & is #2524.

Lola T200 Formula Ford, Tim. At a guess, it may belong to Andrew Willis as he owns one and is from Bourne, where H&H reside.

Which makes even more sense. However I cannot find anyone running as 33 in the championships this year?

It might be ex Neil Fowler? He did have more T200 than you can shake a stick at. What about the 2009 entry list for the #33?

Simon Arron confirms that it is infact Andrew Willis. Neil did have more than his fair share of T200s I agree...........

.... but he tends to come down himself or send his team to Mallory.

I checked HSCC entry lists back to 2006 for #33, and no joy. I presume Simon photographed Andrew testing at Mallory?

The HSCC Meeting?

Correct Alan! He's not in the programme but is in the results. What put me off the scent is that he is listed earlier in the season at the Silverstone International Trophy running under the number #34, and the number is normally retained for the season. Could be a mis-print tho'.

Not sure, Tony, this might be the same car he shared with (I think) Nick Swift last year at the revival.

Well the chap in the racegear working on the Mini is the same chap who drove it on Wednesday, and frankly I don't know what Oliver Gavin looks like.

Are you talking about the Oliver Gavin that is racing the works Corvette in LeMans/ALMS or do you think about somebody with the same name?
Here is the link to the website of Oliver Gavin. There is a picture of him to. ;)

Having just been 'nudged' by MCS/Mark, John Ginger, Cyrilmac and myself are committed to join him at Mallory next Wednesday the 25th so we have a TNF quorum! Hopefully there are more TNFers out there who might be tempted to join us for a morning's entertainment??? :cat:

And to add to this, next weekend at Mallory there is a Classic Sports Car Club two day meeting over that weekend.

The 25th could be an awesome day!

As an ex Volvo (DAF) man curious about the Camel and Variomatic stickered car with a Goodwood FoS #121 on the side, it looks like there is a CVT hanging out the back does anyone know anything about it ?

Thanking you in anticipation

MCS / Mark oop north for a meeting, marvels at the Daf Variomatic transmission on the Huron. IIRC, this car won it's class in the 1972 European Hillclimb Championship and will be given a whirl tomorrow at Mallory by it's Dutch owners. It's next most likely appearance will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was great to see Mark there this morning too after an 18 year absence from the circuits. When he got over the shock of how chilly it can be north of Watford Gap, he couldn't believe how much the circuit had changed over the years......

Ralph, this is when the Huron-Daf Variomatic made it's first appearance at Mallory back in April, and it features in this thread intermittantly from them onwards and also in the Goodwood FOS 2010 thread. It was driven at Goodwood by grandson of the founder of DAF, Paul Van Doorne, and was at Mallory on Wednesday being driven by Marcus Pye for a forthcoming feature in MotorSport.

The GuardsTrophy GT and Sports Racing Championship is a re-work of the former Classic Sports Car Championship. It is contested by GT and sports-racing cars built before 1966 and with an international sporting pedigree from period. An invitation class for pre '69 sports-racing, GTand sports-prototypes is also included.
