I got to the paddock at the 9.30am shift change and the Bugatti had left by then. It was only Ian / Pullman99 who told me it had been there! I hope there was nothing wrong with it?
Oh, and as I left at 12.30pm, the Van Diemen was being pushed in with a scrunched nose.

Yeah, as I was getting into my uncles car about 12:25 at the car park near the hairpin there was a huge bang as a car hit the wall, so it was probaly the Van Diemen losing it exiting the hairpin.

Stuart Kestenbaum's Van Diemen came into contact with a Dallara F3 car on the Hairpin exit, minor damage to both. Not sure who started it...

Irrespective of the spectator numbers, they will see more overtaking in 15mins at Mallory than in any GP. ;)

From what I gather from Mr Wilds, he's enjoying himself immensely, and is due to test a Ligier there next. Nice work if you can get it!

The Ligier JS17 belonging to Abba Kogan and the ex-Jo Bonnier Lola T70Mk3b SL76/143 are both nearing completion with Colin Bennett and as Mike is his test driver, he is likely to be seen out in both cars in the near future.

MCS / Mark oop north for a meeting, marvels at the Daf Variomatic transmission on the Huron. IIRC, this car won it's class in the 1972 European Hillclimb Championship and will be given a whirl tomorrow at Mallory by it's Dutch owners. It's next most likely appearance will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It was great to see Mark there this morning too after an 18 year absence from the circuits. When he got over the shock of how chilly it can be north of Watford Gap, he couldn't believe how much the circuit had changed over the years......

What a fabulous morning! I am so pleased I dropped by. A bit strange returning after so many years...

Thank you for your excellent company, Tony. Some wonderful machinery on display, both in the paddock and on the track. I was actually quite taken aback by the presentation of the cars - absolutely astounding in some cases. I never saw the Keegan March looking as good as that  and the Huron was absolutely beautiful. And the Matra... well

The willingness of both drivers and mechanics to discuss their cars was also a pleasant surprise - a lovely atmosphere.

I didn't take anywhere near the number of pictures that Giraffe did, but here is Richard Attwood about to take the Brabham BT26 out...

BT26/4 is the Donington Collection's car. It was accompanied by 1 man and his dog, and is entered for Monaco with Attwood driving.

I can confirm that it is a March 793, not an updated 783 - and it's hardly Iain's new car, he's owned it since the eighties.

Nope, as I reckon it was only ever seen on the hills of Belgium in the hands of Jean-Louis Haxhe. The nearest I got was Roger Enever's normally geared car in similar livery in 1971. Close but no (Camel) cigar(ette). :well:

Got the car wrong, got how long he'd owned it wrong, even spelt his ruddy name wrong! Never met the guy, but I reckon he owes me a punch on the nose at the very least!

Dear Giraffe,

Thanks for your kind comments.

The car is chassis 12b, as noone wanted #13. It was bought new by a Jean Blanc - I think it was red in period.
The chap who restored it -my predescessor - had it painted in the stereotypical Team Lotus colours. Charles Lucas ran the works team in 1966, so I added the 'Charles Lucas Team Lotus' decals to make the livery historically accurate.
I'm pretty sure Mr. Lucas never drove #12b himself; his was chassis 14, with 2 other cars in Team Lucas for Courage and Pike.

Kind Regards,

Gareth Williams
