I'll be there tomorrow - all things being equal (ie no blizzards, plague of frogs etc,etc .(though historic european touring cars would be of interest - more so than the current rubbish being touted as ETC or WTCC))

Yes Cyrilmac, it would be really nice to see some of the Historic Saloons and Group C cars on track getting ready for what looks like being a busy season on the Historic front. We are very lucky to have such a variety being served up at present and the potential is there for the various series to flourish in 2011 - HFO starts soon so maybe we`ll start seeing more F1 cars on a Wednesday. One day I hope to get to Mallory with you guys......will have to work on that one!! :|

We will see this car out in the Martini Trophy for 2 litre sportscars launched this season by the HSCC

My boss's car was there today but didn't run. Ownership has now reverted from Nick Linney to Frank Sytner and the car is currently being viewed as it's for sale. It's a bargain route to beating the 917s and 512s, so I would guess it's a good way of spending something approaching half-a-million quid...................

Bit of a rush returning to the office (in Derby) - hence brief pics. Sorry, didn't mention that I met up with Phil Rainford, Giraffe, and Ian and Mike Shelburne. Much of interest discussed over coffee against background of wailing Matra and all the others. Nice to say hello to Simon Hadfield too. Sorry I missed bumping into yourself cyrilmac. Next time (but probably not next week) I'll try and be seated at the first bench along from the hairpin wearing a TNF fleece and/or pink carnation and reading acopy of Autosport / The Times! :rotfl: (Delete as necessary).

Wailing Matra!

That should be quite stunning. I remember it well at Crystal Palace and elsewhere. Tetsu Ikuzawa's cars were always superbly turned out in period and its preparation and presentation by Simon Hadfield is a joy to behold. Thanks Giraffe . for confirming the identity of the Lotus and the B19.

What class will those old saloons run in? Obviously one which allows non-period wheels? Triumph GT6 on two of them, if I'm not mistaken.

The regs are pretty loose, I suspect, to get decent fields and a good range of cars. Julius Thurgood (sp) has his heart in the right place. Modern rims I can accept for safety reasons, but it is the rim width and especially offsets which are ludicrous, some more so than others - check back over some of the pictures on the thread- , and the problem is that people think it is all real, as it was, rather than just another form of hotrods.

Good question Alan. Simon has been out previously in DP212, but that had it's reg. on the bonnet. The other car there yesterday is the well known replica built for Martin Brewer of Runnymede Motor Company.

Simon?

Phil, is the S2000 the Aquila, came into the series at the end of 1982 I think. A couple of years later most S2000s looked like it. What about the RT1, any history of it, is it the ex-Alo car?

It's RT1 - 64 if that's any help?

RT1-64 used 1977 by Cheever. 1978 raced by Romeo Camathias in F2 then sold to Alo Lawler and used in AFX championship 78-79 with a Hart 420R engine.

In period it didn't always run with the airbox, but it did always (almost?) run with the vestigial engine cover/fairing.

And of course it wouldn't have had those huge air filters.
