Scott has two Benettons from my records, B197 - 05 and B199 - 04. This I think is the former, ex - Alesi

It is Scott yes, he has been at Mallory a few times with both cars, got shots of him before. Turned up one day with Andy Meyrick in his old F1 car. Along with Jan Lammers old F1 car it became quite a good day!

I'm don't know my Benettons but appear possibly to have got the chassis numbers the wrong way round!

The weather appears to be reasonably settled so there may be a decent showing this Wednesday morning. I'm planning on being there and hopefully MCH too. Cyril, Ian, Michael, Phil.................... :cat:

he said on it whilst posting photos of him at a mallory test here, that it is a B197

Just been informed that I've got 5 days of dental antibiotic-enforced abstinence from alcohol to look forward to. Bugger! And the I came out of the dentists to find a parking ticket on the car for overstaying by 4 minutes. Double Bugger! Think I'll console myself with a trek from Cambridgeshire to Mallory tomorrow to see and hear some good cars and good people. Oh, and a good fry-up an' all.

Giraffe; please accept my humble apologies it is a B197 of Marijn van Kalmthout Boss racer. Scotts B197 went off the US hence the confusion I have! It is looked after by the Manseels and is a ex Ascari car.

A pleasant enough little trip as I was close by this morning. Didn't take many pictures at all as one of my daughters has "borrowed" my camera.

Beautiful weather - isn't it always on a Wednesday at Mallory? Only person I saw was Alan Raine and I shouted to him but he didn't hear me; but it was at the same time as a loudly misfiring F2 Cassani Ralt was passing by! There seemed to be a lot of cars misfiring in the first single-seater session, but a number of them did seem to be having difficulty not falling over one of these...

Posted Image

Quite a bit of a speed difference though (!) if you happened to be in one of these...

Posted Image

For me the best looking car was the F5000 Interscope Lola which Simon Hadfield had out. I didn't get a picture, but I'm sure others will have something. Great watching it through the Lake Esses and down through the Devil's Elbow.

There was also a lovely Ickx/Giunti Ferrari 512M in the paddock - I don't know if it ran as I left a lot earlier than I had originally planned to.

Paul Knapfield's Ferrari 512M. The history of this car is unknown.

More to follow as there was a gaggle of camera wielding TNFers at Mallory basking in this morning's sunshine!

This is the car that was owned jointly by Simon Hadfield and Marcus Pye and has now moved on to a new owner whose name escapes me but who tested it today. Wil Arif also drove the Lola ( Which was not actually a Ted Field car in period) this morning.

Sorry about that. My hearing ain't what it used to be. I know there are always TNF's there but I don't know, or have forgotten what they look like

I met up with Giraffe and Cyrilmac as expected but it was good to see jcdeleted and RS250 for the first time.

Will put up a few piccies after I sort out the work that's been neglected for the day.

Mallory Park, sunshine, Ferrari 512, Interscope Lola, F2 March's, Chevron etc.....what more can one ask for :)

The car that ran with ICKX - GIUNTI on the sides was 1010, which was converted into the 712 CanAm car & I guess still is?

It says on the Lola site that covers this type of car that it is now owned by Steve Chaplin of Aylesbury.I was disappointed to find out it was not a real Interscope/Ongais car as it is chassis HU52 which was an American car just not this particular one.The two Interscope cars were actually HU54 (which was written off ) and HU60 which still exists and is raced in the USA.

I actually was quite impressed by the Jaguar MkVII tow car registration MKV 11 which was being used to tow a MkII saloon and is also used to tow the owners C Type, DType and E Type (blimey).

T'is Martin Stretton Dan, althought I'm far from certain it's an ex-Ribero car. I recall Simon Hadfield said something to me yesterday about this particular March.............. :cat:

I couldn't quite fathom that one, Dan. It was Martin Stretton at the wheel (I think). The car bore similarities to the ex-Jarier Sperry Univac 782 that was also running and I assumed it was actually a 772P from the nose - possibly the ex-Giacomelli car that Ribeiro did the season closer in at Donington in 1977 ?

Mark/Giraffe, it could be either a 762 or 772 by the look of it, but not a 782 or 772P. Though with Marches of a certain age, we can never be sure...See Chris' recent posting on the '73Bs' at Snett. The Donny '77 car became the Kim Mather '782/79B', much discussed on ehre and elsewhere. It didn't look like this one at all!

Actually, you are bang on. The 772P was narrow at the sides. I remember it's debut at the International trophy when Patrick Neve really ought to have won by a country mile.

I was having problems with the auto focus on my camera today. It hated black cars! I'd left my specs in the car so couldn't figure out how to set it up for manual focus.

The best of a bad job!

Well at least you had your own camera! Some good pics here, Alan. The Lola picture is great.
