The car that ran with ICKX - GIUNTI on the sides was 1010, which was converted into the 712 CanAm car & I guess still is?

He owns that as well ...

I'm really not too bothered as it's a lovely morning here!

A lovely morning turned into a Grand Day Out. Nice to meet you Giraffe, and Cyrilmac, RS250 and Alan. Thanks for the conviviality, hospitality and erudite chewing of the fat. Great photos as always.

Steve Chaplin normally drives an immaculate front-engined 170bhp Classic Clubmans Phantom with considerable style and pace. He commented that driving the Lola is a bit different to driving the Phantom. I do like understatement.

The fact that I forgot to partake of the legendary Mallory fry-up means I'll have to return soon to sample it. It's a hard life but someone's got to live it.

This car's unusual chassis number (76A B8 6915 AM384) denotes it's Arch Motors origin.

Doesn't Mr Knapfield also own the 712 CanAm car? And if so could this 512M be that car in its original spec.?
Or is the very notion of this happening to a very special CanAm car out of the question?

Here's Mr.K's 712 at the CER round at Silverstone last year. It would be interesting to watch that negotiate Shaws Hairpin!

Mark/Giraffe, it could be either a 762 or 772 by the look of it, but not a 782 or 772P. Though with Marches of a certain age, we can never be sure...See Chris' recent posting on the '73Bs' at Snett. The Donny '77 car became the Kim Mather '782/79B', much discussed on ehre and elsewhere. It didn't look like this one at all!

Thinking about it, there was actually a gap of probably just less than half an inch between the cockpit surround bodywork and the nose cone. It wasn't taped over, although the two screws fixing the nose to the top of the monocoque were tank-taped over.

There's been quite a lot of work on the banking along Stebbe Straight. The barriers have been pushed back quite a bit but only for half of it. Is the layout going to be changed again?

It could be the ex-John Bosch '1038' reconstruction which Knapfield apparently also owns.

Brilliant day at mallory, Simon's lot bought an impressive collection of cars that were mouth watering. It was a joy to see Frank Sytner sling a lovely March 782 I do believe around and then Simon taking it out for a couple of runs and just took it to the limit! Brilliant to watch.

It was an Historic fest at one point! with old stuff out numbering modern. Not many photo taken today, I was saving myself for the Donington Historic.

Promise! haha

A brisk morning , actually rather chilly to be honest , but a good turn out . Good to see Mr + Mrs RS250 (edit: Sorry confused ! ) but missed anyone else - probably due to it being on the cold side for standing still for very long. As always please feel free to identify drivers and cars.

According to the F1R Black Book, corroborated in this March 782 thread Jarier raced two 782s in 1978: 782-11 and 782-16. Do any of our Mallory ferrets know the chassis numbers of the cars out at Mallory?
