the driver of the 49 Univac March , would appear to contravene the rule on the line between the front and rear bulkhead .

I always thought this was one of the rules that has been flouted/ignored the most over the past couple of decades despite making a lot of sense. You seem to see it often when looking at photos of historic racing in general.
I guess part of it is down to current owner/drivers being somewhat taller, in general, than the whippets who raced them in their prime!

According to the F1R Black Book, corroborated in this March 782 thread Jarier raced two 782s in 1978: 782-11 and 782-16. Do any of our Mallory ferrets know the chassis numbers of the cars out at Mallory?

First time in a very long time that I have been to Mallory Park, I think it was 6 years ago that I last visited.... Nice to get away from work and see and get close to cars that dont require a fleet of engineers and computers to start....

What I consider the best of my photos:

Sounded amazing, I have a video which I'll try and get up, plus very enjoyable watching the more modern Formula Renault trying (and failing) to keep up:

The aftermath of a quick spin on cold tyres:

Couple of more modern cars which did not seem as fast as they perhaps should have been:

Can I bring to the attention of everybody that reads and posts in this very interesting thread, the TNF Film Show is taking place on the 14th May in Hertfordshire and the special guests are Andy Rouse and Pete Hall. Andy the rapid driver of various Broadspeed cars and Pete Hall the Team Owner of the ICS cars that served Andy so very well. Others expected for the day are Mike Crabtree (Willment Escort) Chris Craft ( no introduction needed.but Broadspeed and Superspeed cars amongst others) and one Martin Thomas of Camaro fame. Please do send RTH an e-mail if you wish to attend this super day in a friendly and convivial atmosphere, lunch and refreshments provided, and the opportunity to meet other members of TNF. Hope some of you can attend! ( Sorry, blatant plug over !)

For no reason other than to illustrate Sterlings plug for Andy Rouse's appearance at the filmshow, here is a photograph I took at Silverstone a few years back when Andy Rouse ran the ICS Mondeo team - he is standing with his back to the camera (curly greying hair) looking at Paul Radisich's car.

Not only Mallory...Snetterton has some nice Lotus F1 machinery circulating today during the general test.
The first time three type 79s have been together since the late '70s.
F2 ( modern ) and World Series Renault testing too.

Not a particularly quiet day in Istanbul. Stray dogs barking all over the place and phone bouncing up and down because Rainford keeps sending me text messages from Mallory...

Kirkby Mallory (and Kirkby Bellars, Kirkby Lonsdale, etc.) where the "k" is silent. As in Istanbul's spectator stands. Probably.

Ooh, I say - or words to that effect (perfected by the BBC once upon a time). Great pictures, Phil - as ever, of course.

But, a question. Has it EVER rained during a Wednesday test session at Mallory since Gatmo told us to get along?!!!

Computer appears to have cleaned its self at last ! I won't add any photo's to Phil's fine selection other than this one.
I'm afraid I forgot the chaps name who was in the sports car,but he said he was there after the cars owner asked if he'd like a drive ! The car is motorbike engine powered , chain driven.

It's a long tale Tony, which I will post when my typing digit feels up to it.
As I have posted this some time ago, somewhere or other I fully expect Alan Raine to stop drawing pretty pictures for a while and find it and post it for me.
My digit would be grateful. :smoking:

I can't be bothered trying to find it Ian, but to save your digit, I'll give a brief explanation.

During the halcyon days of Formula Ford and Formula E about 25 years ago many of those involved ended up with nicknames. Ian Smith became "Dispatch" as being the organiser, runner, scapegoat and general dogs body, the name fitted. "Diz" is an abbreviation of that.

Before I go back to drawing pretty pictures, I was glad to hear that ex Formula E driver and sponsor, Mike Newton, wasn't too badly hurt after his RML LMP2 car was taken out big style at Spa yesterday.
