What ginetta have you got? a bike powered G15 would be fun!

Well Done That Man!! It actually is a 1971 G15 with a mid mounted 2006 Yamaha R1 motor, full spaceframe chassis, double wishbone suspension (inboard at the front), four pot brakes etc. I'm hoping to complete the project over the next few months. Sorry for going O/T.

Simon Hadfield is on FIA duty in Paris this week. Some folk will be on their way to Pau. Maybe some cars preparing for the HSCC Silverstone?

Some things always look slightly odd - even after a few years ....

This G26 has been pictured on TNF before. Saw it at Stoneleigh a couple of weeks ago.
What do you mean, odd?

Not got many I am affraid, a few nice things turned up, stretton had 2 F2's I think, a ferrari also appeared but not sure what the make was. What looked like a F5000 appeared, the GT40 that was at Donington Historic a couple of weeks back.

Other things but I am not sure what they are,

Photos soon from me I hope.

From my obscured position i could see Mr Knapfield out in his regular Ferrari steed while Martin Stretton had an ex Agostini Marlboro Chevron and a Caixa ex Ribiero? F1 March.

Sheesh, you just can't get the staff these days...........

None with cameras anyway....
Quick rollcall: Paul Knapfields 312PB, Gelscoe Motorsports early (green) GT40 , a plain white Lola T332, a lovely (aren't they all?) blue Chevron B26/31, Martin Strettons March 762 (the white/gold one with Brazilian sponsorship), Mustang GT350H, Marlboro Chevron B42 (ex Ago?), Porsche 356 in addition to the newer stuff.
Oh, and a bike engined car that looked like the inside of a washing machine when he took the body off.
Loved the Seve joke...

I made a brief visit to Mallory this morning with my father - he doesn't walk so well these days so we didn't stand around and loiter too long or spend too much time taking chassis numbers or counting rivets (as I might under other circumstances) but did snatch a few interesting chats with some of the runners.

It was, as predicted, very quiet, but did see several cars posted here previously and a real mixture of other stuff:
- the Pace/Merzario-liveried 312P (quite a treat to se that run at Mallory).
- ex Walker (Tasman)/Edwards?/Wrigley Lola T330/332 - beautifully presented with interesting and friendly owner whose name I forgot to ask.
- the Caixa-liveried F2 March which seemed to have great trouble in holding its drink.
- 1973 1600cc F3 Dastle.
- a Crossle 25F converted to side-radiators.
- the yellow 'Stratos' silhouette GT car - well presented and very quick and tidily-driven (wonder how much its design was compromised by trying - and failing - to look like a Stratos?).
- modern FVee with interesting mono-spring (seemingly also doing anti-roll duty a la Pilbeam MP62) - but multi-damper - rear suspension.
- a Porsche Cup car looking like it was destined for the VLN.
- Chevron B36 (?) didn't get a close enough look at - blue - not certain of the model no. but the later one with the reverse-curve to the nose profile - had a BD rather than an FVC if that helps.
- various saloons, bike-engined sports racers, Clubmans a couple of modern single seaters I didn't get to look at.

Took just a few pics, but I don't have them here to hand. A couple of sessions had just four or five cars running so pretty quiet, but a pleasant enough couple of hours.

Ah - seems I was a bit slow posting... thanks for the correction on the Chevron no. (I thought B36 sounded too late, but didn't think it was 26, which I think had the more 19-ish nose and didn't think 'hybrid'!). Forgot about the Ford and I missed the B34 altogether.

Looking forward to getting the camera out once again!

But whilst I am on the subject of photos, I created some joiners on the event for a college project, some arent joined correctly to give it a abstract effect. I have more to do!

In your Ferrari 312 "composite" my father and I are standing on the right. We were photographing the ducks just before you. With hindsight, wish we'd taken the trouble to say hello now! Next time... (which won't be this week for me, unfortunately).

Actually, you are bang on. The 772P was narrow at the sides. I remember it's debut at the International trophy when Patrick Neve really ought to have won by a country mile.

And a somewhat grainy picture to illustrate the narrow sides, entering Stowe in practice...

Not going to Mallory (nor Brighton) early or otherwise today. Maybe try and be present and correct next week. Looks like a nice sunny morning here in the Midlands.

IIRC that vintage of indycar only had 2 gears, start and go faster - That must have been fun round Mallory!

Changing the topic slightly, a conversation occured yesterday involving the fastest lap time around Mallory.

I believe this is the sprint car.

My dad's photo btw.

Thats the one Matthew! Its currently for sale on Racecarsdirect.
Its a Gould GR55 Sprint car running a 3.5 litre NME Cosworth with over 600bhp.
Official time 37.92 - 128mph average..... and generating a bit of ground effect looking at the ride height.

If it has a big enough fuel tank it would be a sure-fire front running car in the new Castle Combe Formula Free series! (which I just happen to sponsor - )
And it would be easily inside the noise limit.
Now where is that lottery ticket...?

YES! Every wednesday is an open test day at Mallory - cars in the morning, bikes in the afternoon and most certainly open to the public.
Admission is quite expensive though, its now £2.00.

With prices that steep I might have to reconsider. :p Looks like a fantastic way to spend a day though, must get up there at least one day this summer.
