Seemed a fair amount of sidecars due to the sidecar festival at the weekend. Mental these guys! especially the F1 ones.

I was tempted, but ended up at a garage in Hyde having the BSI unit reprogrammed in my daughters Citroen C3. A long story that's been a pain in the backside. I know where I'd rather been :)

For the record, i was there all day, Simon was there most if not all of the day while Phil buggered off at lunchtime.........

It was definitely "one for the true enthusiast" today as the slack weather possibly put a few potential runners off but there you go.

The afternoon's bike action is probably best summed up by the following statistic: 6 solo riders, 4 fallers..............

'Twas a quiet day, but it extended my season from January 1 (Wimbledon bangers) to December 21 (Mallory testing) via 19 grands prix and 20-odd events elsewhere. If I could do the Boxing Day meeting, I would...

It looks like something from a 750 Formula race circa 1981 and the passenger is conspicuously absent, but this is still apparently a sidecar.

I would like to plead a subsequent engagement; spent a frustrating day under an old plastic car trying to figure out what were genuine BRM modifications and why they even contemplated doing it, before I chopped them out with a BIG axe. At least (eventually) I found out where I had put the fan-heater last March.

Seems that 'er indoors has decided that I spend too much time arsing about with old motors and that going down the pub wiv me mates would be less expensive. :smoking: half-way there then.

I am no expert ......but suggest too much weight over front axle could have been a contributing factor :)

If only it was in black and white, the shot of Gatmo in his all-terrain vehicle could almost be a still from one the London Motor Club vs The Army mudplugging trials broadcast by Grandstand, which relieved the tedium of horse racing and football on a winter Saturday afternoon in the 1960s.

Memories of Austin Champs, Haflingers and "the Slug" a Standard 10 powered experimental vehicle, IIRC. Memories are made of this......

Seasons Greetings to all from me too!

Those trials looked great fun and did indeed relieve the tedium most of the remainder of Grandstand. Does "The Slug" still exist, I wonder.

Have a truly great Christmas and a splendid Hogmanay everyone!

I'll be honest here, when i started this thread many moons ago i never really expected Kent Walton to get a mention, let alone see a picture of myself on a bloody dumper in colour and b/w....

Humbled doesn't begin to cover it.

Somebody is hoping to get a F5000 special test together before things are wrapped up this year, but this depends on a number of factors that parties are currently working on..... :cat:

Can somebody let ME know by 'phone or text if and when the F5000 day is known please?

Joe is actually sat on the floor of the tub and with his back against the rear bulkhead, there is no seat in the car bar a bit of temporary padding. I think you would be astonished if you saw the original seat that we have for the car, you would have to be quite a small chap to stand any chance of using it. If you look at the Peterson pictures you can see he sits further back in the car than Depailler, it looks like he is similar to Joe in having very little in the way of a seat back.

The car went well in Portimao, Roger qualified 5th, finished 4th in race one and then finished on the Podium in 3rd for race two, behind a ground effect Brabham and McLaren.

Really! No seat and still poking out the top like that..
Interesting to still see the major influence of 'P34 development driver' Depailler.
Jody will have been fine but I can imagine it was quite a squeeze for Peterson!

So, I presume a new seat will be made to complement this wonderful car?
I had a nice go when I was building my 'P34/2 replica' simulator (1:1) :stoned:

A low number morning but the Chevron was well worth it.

I had a little muck up though...

Managed to get Simon going round in the Chevron, spent a couple of hours at the garage with all the guys, Ben was unsure if he was having a drive or not...

12:10pm I had had enough of the cold for the morning and thought all was over and headed back to my car. Enjoying my lunch when I heard the roar of the B37 fire into life at about 12:20 and head round the track. By then it was too late...

Listening to it he was really giving it some :)

Sorry Ben!

Photos soon...
