And talking of Chevrons, it's going to be a GR8 weekend for me at Silverstone. I think TNFer Derek Lawson is Clerk of the Course.

Phil Its a B27 BDG F2. The car is owned by Alan Bell although I think it might have a new owner as it was for sale over the winter. It's chassis number 1 ex Bob Marsland. It shouldn't have forward sloping stays off the roll hoop, just the rear facing ones. Forward facing supports didnt come out on Chevron's until the B29. It also has inboard rear brakes which also didn't come out until the B29. Makes you wonder whether it is a B29 although it could have been updated in period I guess.

I'm not sure what you mean. It certainly looks like a B27 to me with some modifications which weren't on B27's originally eg. forward facing struts on roll hoop and in board rear brakes.

Maybe I'm getting carried away over the detail and your correct what is the point its only an old car that 99.9% of the population don't care about.

I think Mark is trying to ask as to why the owner would want to run non-period modifications to a classic racing car if as it appears, that is the case?

PS I think?

Anything of interest booked in for tomorrow morning, Gatmo? There are 541 entries for the International Trophy meeting a Silverstone at the weekend, so some of them must need shaking down? :cat:

We will be there Saturday /Sunday having wasted four days of my life on a drag around Italy called Mille Miglia. Now one of the most overrated events in Historic Motoring.Choc Drop went to Spa and was in fifth place when it ran dry on last lap.Must give them more petrol money.First time out for the car in two years.

25-30 cars are expected in the morning, i think Silverstone have a test day on Friday so that may have diluted the numbers somewhat.

Nice pictures again Giraffe!!  The `familiar Arrows` wouldn`t happen to be Steve Hartley`s old motor in Ragno colours instead of Grand Prix International livery would it? All the same - those cars and the JPS Lotus cars of Nico B and Dave Coplowe make it for me.. they are all so well turned out!! I'm sure Mallory Dan or Cirrus will be along shortly with a full set of info on it.
But as a taster, try JHH in an R RP30, but I'm not sure if it is JHH in it.

I'd tried that route Diz (the entry list for Silverstone) but knew it was wrong and didn't want to embarrass myself. I also knew that Cirrus would be along to save the day! I vouch to pay more attention to the historic FF2000s at Silverstone this weekend, which is no more than they deserve.

Well I did say that Cirrus would be along and he was. I admit I wasn't thinking and should have known a) the car was a Reynard and b) that it was Peter [the AMR toolchests alone gave that one away]

One day I might tell the tale of how I co invented Pre83 FF2000 - and ran a race for them - a few years before BARC got their dates right.

what a great car - typifies everything that was early British racing. I think it is one of the most memorable cars racing due to its livery and I am sure I remember watchig VSCC races with it as a child which was a very long time ago!
