The Millennium Falcon has scrubbed up well (and you do take a deep breath as you engage warp drive!) and speaking personally I am a big fan of the helmet.
One hopes Don Skogmo would have approved of the Genie restoration......and what a great shot Matthew!

It looked brilliant on track! especially around Devils Elbow its track holding was awesome. Oh and thanks Simon, I was enjoying my new angles of the circuit!

Helmet wise, lets take a look back at the first test of the year, I still believe that this is the perfect helmet and car combination... oh and driver too!

It has been pointed out to me that the Millennium Falcon does not engage warp drive but jumps to light speed - he has gone to get his coat......

The rumble strips will be getting a top coat tomorrow so the photos should look even better from next week onwards :)

And if you are reading this, Mr Hadfield, i'm struggling with your American RF85 pilote. Alan Mitchell's BRP/Amity Racing website has disappeared from t'internet which listed every driver he had through BRP/Amity so the trusty pile of programmes are next on the list.....

For those who would like to join in at home, my Van Diemen RF85 was originally supplied in white to BRP. Val Adaway thinks the white BRP car in 1985 was driven by a "blond American lad" but she could not remember his name. Wayne has a shot of the BRP team cars lined up on his Facebook site but we can't see the name on the car as its at the back! Any leads or photographs would be much appreciated.

Damned tricky, those pre-selector gear-boxes. We used to have the same trouble in the Traction-Avant! ;)

Worked all right in my Routemaster.

I thought of Sean Jones but both he and Trip Leon ran in 1986 i think. I didn't know that Kristyan Ingram was American though?

I was guessing about him, Wayne, but he was in an 85 BRP entered car. I've seen the other two on an 85 entry list but not with BRP

Sean was blonde & ran an RF85 in 1986 with help from his dad's mate, Bill Simpson (his dad being Chuck).

Two Astons? Not sure I saw two.

Parked more or less side-by-side, maybe 100 yards back from the toilet block in the paddock. I would post a photo of each, but I don't know how... :|

I saw that Pete; but don't remember it at the time.......it might actually prove that my attempts at slower shutter speeds is actually making the background blurred :rotfl:

I have probably mentioned before about my Grandad running one of these 750 formula cars back in the 80s after his Mini racing in the 70s.

The car is still about today being restored and was recently sold at the silverstone auction.

This is the advert. It was still like the day my Grandad sold it. My dad remembers getting those tyres from silverstone, even his name on the side as can be seen in the third photo.

Have Hall & Hall shown up on a Wednesday morning as yet this year? I can't see it being worth the journey from Bourne for them with the cars they look after. Is Donington now the circuit of choice for noisy testing?

No Hall & Hall as of yet, or Martin Stretton.

Ben told me yesterday that he thinks they will be bringing the Lotus 22 twin cam, Lotus 27 junior, Elva mk8 and the UFO Capri! (the car that likes to follow me around)

Hope to see some of you there

I dropped into Oulton Park this morning to find the Paddock full!

Not much Historic stuff out but I quite liked this Brabham.

I've not seen an MRE for years. Apparently this started out as an F3 car and has been rebuilt as a Formula Ford.

Lots of modern cars and karts out. The Minis seemed to spend more time trimming the grass than staying on the track!
