Whilst I was at Mallory about a week ago, I was pleased to see a new bridge being built.

Also, I like to pay, keeps the circuit going :)

The bridge has been built, used and is now back on a lorry heading for its next job i'm afraid........ Triumph paid for the hire of the bridge for their Triumph Live event last weekend which saw Kaiser Chiefs and Reef on stage :)

Someone mentioned to me on Saturday that they have lowered the Decibel Limit for the noise test (or are introducing a noise test) for the Wednesday testing - could anyone confirm this as I know a couple of people who might be interested if they haven't!

Steve, the noise limit for testing is 105db and all competing vehicles are tested prior to entering the field of play.

Cheers.

Ahh - Car 137, the lovely little Smith 500 Mk2 of Richard de la Roche. Nice to see that he must have fitted a larger fuel tank than he has been using for sprints and hills, as he was barely carrying enough to last more than a couple of laps of Mallory.

AH that is what I feared, I was meant to be there taking photos of a red Nova.

Wouldn't of minded coming to get some shots of yours, everytime I have the chance your brakes caught fire :p

glad it went ok for you.

As my teachers were always telling me............Must pay more attention

Thank you so much for the posting the pictures, we have a lot of work to do on her in preparation for Donington Park, but at least we wont have to worry about the silly silencers that strangle it, on straight pipes it sounds wonderful!

Sorry I didn't make it today, instead I was having a fight with a Jumbo sprayer and Waxoyl under a Mini. In the end I lost, and the Sprayer is now in the bin. My dad wasn't best pleased when i told him I had used his best paint brush in the end...

Anyway, I will see some of you guys either at Mallory HRDC this weekend or at Donington the week after!

See you soon.

As testing is now over for the winter and this has become the dedicated Mallory Park thread, I thought I'd post these two sets of Maurice Bruton's photos here.
The first set are from sometime in the early to mid 60s, and the second from a Bank Holiday event held at Mallory in 1968. I hope that Mallory aficionados will find them of interest.....

Once again, super stuff, Tony. I suspect the club pics are from '62 with Protheroe in that iteration of CUT 7 with the blue blaze on the nose, and probably John Wagstaff.

Great stuff, Tony. The '68 shots are from, I think, the September 2nd "FordSport Cortina Day". Where it all started for me, my first ever meeting. Demos by Hill and Stewart, the 'Airborne Cortina', 4 races, and Chitty Chitty, what more could a 5 year old want! I've got the Prog in front of me now, great memories.

The early race is the easter Monday race with Dick Protheroe winning from John Wagstaff in the GT final. The Mini Coopers may well be Bill Borrowman, P Galliford and C Pearce-Pope , in that order, as a class within a race.
52 is Chris Summers, Cooper Chev. Cooper Monaco probably Jimmy Blumer, the Lotus 11 J Spender and among the single seaters you may have Jack Fairman , Cooper Maserati. Gleaned from Autosport.,

Really not sure how much creedence to give this, but the word on the social networking sites is that there is going to be a big push mounted this spring to close Mallory with a residents meeting getting the campaign underway tomorrow night at 7.30pm in the schoolhouse at Kirkby Mallory.
Anyone here no better??? :cat:

It's a major item in the local parish council meeting minutes, which can be downloaded here. In the January minutes (the most recent available) we find:

10. MALLORY PARK MOTORSPORT – SITUATION UPDATE
The Chairman reported that he had circulated the recent report from Mr Steve Atkinson, Chief Executive of H&BBC, regarding the current situation between H&BBC and the Kirkby Mallory Track, which indicated that H&BBC are continuing with their intention to take legal action against the Track for infringements of the 1985 Notice.

Councillor Ball reported that she had circulated to the Councillors information regarding the actions taken by the ‘residents’ representatives’, along with letters and documents the ‘residents’ representatives’ have regarding the developing situation regarding the Track.

Councillor Ball elaborated, and gave further insight on how the ‘residents’ representatives’ see the current situation and what they are pressing H&BBC to do for them. Councillor Ball also brought the Council up to date regarding the situation concerning the residents’ request to the Ombudsman to intervene and look at the residents’ complaints regarding H&BBC.

It sounds like the residents have grievances with both the council & Mallory. I'd bet none of them living there pre-date the circuit.

Took all of 5 mins to send an e-mail to Steve Atkinson, chief executive, of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council at steve.atkinson@hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk telling him what Mallory Park means to me.
