Shame about that D Type 'replica', Cyril. The yellow Aston looks like the Edd Sharpe/Gerry Marshall car - don't know if Edd still owns it. Anyone?

I did wonder and have done over the years as there appears to be a fair few C and D Types ( With out prejudice. )

It does look like it (there can't be two canary yellow DB4s, surely?!) and no, it was sold some time ago (12 months at least) and the current owner apparently knows little of its history unfortunately.

Why isn't Mallory a bit nearer to me...?

A great couple of action shots posted by Phil Rainford on Friday; were they shot at the entry to the Esses, Phil?

Indeed they were taken on the inside of the Esses ..... just by the small lake: is a shot a member of the public can take as long as they can gain access to the Paddock :)

Not sure if this works for non-Facebook members, but here is a nice in-car video of Mike Wilds in an FW06 at Mallory:

Simon Hadfield had both the Trojan T101s out this morning.......

I have been trying to find some photos of the lower front suspension mounting on the Trojan T101 for over a year now. I am also interested in the monocoque area behind the seat and the engine firewall mounting. If anyone can get the opportunity to capture these aspects of the Trojan T101, it would be most appreciated.

cheers

Twas an excellent day today, a terrific collection of cars in the morning and 50+ bikes this afternoon, all of whom behaved impeccably resulting in zero stoppages all day.

It was probably the best selection of cars that i can remember in a long time, the guy in the A7 kept out of the way admirably and thoroughly enjoyed himself, he even towed the Matra round to a decent lap time.....

Wonderful, simply wonderful. If I'd have known the sportscars were going to be there again I would have - somehow - got along...

Incidentally, I have the Lola T290 HU 005 listed as an Ecurie Bonnier car... I thought Lafosse was with Scuderia Filipinetti. I could, of course, be completely wrong.

Are you sure it's a T290? The 290 was the 2-litre car while the T280 was the 3-litre. Possibly a T282 (HU282/6), which Lafosse bought from the works in 1973? I think the main difference between the 280 and 282 was the long nose and tail sections.

I have to admit to being a little bit confused now. The car pictured has Filipinetti signage (I now notice) and - I think - has T290 bodywork.

Old Racing Cars has this:

The "prototype T282', a description given to the Larrousse/Beltoise car that won the Paris 1000 kms in October 1972, is now identified as T280 HU5. So the first, and apparantly only, T282, was the works/Scuderia Filipinetti/Gitanes T282 HU6.

The car belongs to Leo Voyazides car, and the last time I saw it run was 2 years ago at the 'Grande Passione' Donington Masters event where it was listed in the programme as a T280 from 1972 (if it is indeed the same car). Simon told me that the car today had been subject to many non-standard modifications and has only just been returned to the correct spec and that it 'felt like a Lola' once again. (I've e-mailed Simon for clarification / confirmation).

I did hear a whisper that initially that was envisaged but was "diverted" . The Chevron does look well in those colours I think .

Just my opinion, Tetsu's car looks much better in the original colours, in the '60s, it was unique to have a car with "the rising sun" displayed, especially at clubbies

Edited to say that Tony really needs to work harder to upload more photos  Big John's Lola brings back so many memories of Guards Trophy Meetings at Brands on Bank Holiday Monday :D
