I came across a story in Italy recently of a mechanic named Antonio Reggiani who was reported to have worked for Scuderia Ferrari as an occasional riding mechanic back in the early 1930s (?) and then went to the United States with a car entered in the Indianapolis 500 (and other U.S. races?). He apparently was seriously injured in a race crash (??) and much later returned to Italy and was forced to retire because of his injuries. The person telling me about this is a former Ferrari employee who was an apprentice in Modena just before the start of WWII and into the first few years of the war.
Has anyone heard of this riding mechanic or when the crash may have occurred?
Many thanks.
Antonio Reggiani
