DONINGTON PARK RACE TRACK
RE-OPENING PLANS
The Plans to re-open the new improved Donington Park Race Track are progressing well.
The Project advisors, led by ex Aggregate Industries Director Philip Barltrop and Duncan Green of Pick Everard Consulting Engineers, have met John Symes of the MSA, and we are currently finalising plans and costings for the works to repair the damage done in and around the Race Track at Donington Park.
We are confident that the new improved Race Track can be re-opened, subject to obtaining the necessary Racing Licences, during August 2010.
Donington Park Race Director, Robert Fearnall, is working on an appropriate Race Programme for 2010 which we will announce as soon as possible.
The re-opening of Donington Park will ensure that the Circuit is once again available for National and International Motor Sport.
Kevin Wheatcroft
END
Looks like the CRMC may possibly be the first to run on the revamped circuit...... Fingers Crossed

Hi Renn,Hi gents, why did they damage the track before plans and the needed money for that reconstruction where finally fixed I think the same happened to the once lovely Österreichring, then "optimized" as A1 ring for F1 racing and now it's a ruin because Mr Redbull's plans didn't work out
Its the age old thing of spending the money before you've got it(or someone elses).I guess its how the world works these days

Didn't the troubles start when they tried to lure Bernie's F1 circus back to to Donington ? Well, I agree, my mind is still in the era when vehicles were built to suit the circuits and not the other way round......

Sad that it all comes down to money when there wouldn't have been a Donington without Tom Wheatcroft Everything seems to revolve around money these days Ee when we were lads we were lucky to get an oily spanner to play with Worldwide greed has unfortunately diluted and tamed an incredible test of man v machine into a pop and crisps by the telly advertising charade (am I ranting now?) Those pillocks who don't understand that if it works then don't bust it, should sod off and find their own bit of land and do all the hard work that Tom Wheatcroft had to do In for a quick buck and don't care...tossers

I think most of you guys will have seen the photos floating around earlier this year at the state the place was left in.............................. (Don't go there!!!!!) but for me the most disapointing thing was the removal of the Iconic Dunlop Bridge (Bar Stewards) springs to mind........
I can only hope that the bridge was not destroyed by mindless morons and that it can be reinstated again.......
Sounds like I'm ranting a bit......
If anyone gets the chance to snap some pics they would be interesting to see if not just to guage how much work is to be done before August......
Hopefully we'll be racing and I'll look forward to seeing some great support from everyone at the CRMC Classic Revival Meeting or should we rename it to the Donington Revival Meeting

Ranting apart I couldn't agree more with you guys, Tom Wheatcroft (RIP) did a fantastic job at Donington and to all that have ridden them there is no greater feeling than running through the Craners at full chat (evidently so rumour has it)
John
Couldn't agree more John, I went to Donington with the Earlystocks club in '88 (short circuit of course) and it was a really nice track to ride although I thought that the surface felt a little slippery in places, around Coppice especially, even in the dry and that was on my trusty RD400.

It's interesting, one of the guys that spanners for us is a Chief Ground Engineer with BA, most blame the slippery surface on Aviation Fuel, but the circuit has been tested and analysed to death - results no traces, so it could be just one of those things.....
But boy is it good news to have something happening there at last...
