Good effort. My heart sank when I first saw this restoration featured. I thought "Oh no - not another Sbarro project". Then I realised this is the real one... Well done.

Very impressive!
The compliments from DCN and fellow GT40 enthusiasts are most humbling. But the fact is, without help from historians like DCN & Ronnie Spain, or pics from sources like LAT Photographic, Schlegelmilch & other GT enthusiasts, bringing these GT40's back to authentic condition would be nearly impossible. IMHO, it's these knowledgeable individuals and great business sources who truly deserve the kudos!
If anyone is interested in seeing pics of other GT40's, just click on:

A recent, exciting addition is GT40/P1047 MKIIB (in storage for nearly 35 years in Japan). You may remember this car - at 1967 LeMans it was gold #5 and involved in the famous crash that took out 2 other Ford GT's all at once. If anyone has any close up photos of Gold #5 @ 1967 LeMans, please drop me an email! All help will be rewarded. Anyone know J.P. Juge? He took some great photos of this car, but contact has proven difficult.

The restoration of GT40 1040 was completed this summer (2011). Some new photos have been added showing the car at its post restoration debut (with Ronnie Spain, GT40 historian/author and Phil Henny, original Filipinetti/Shelby American mechanic/author): http://www.racingico...1040/index.html
Enjoy!

Agreed, I know this GT40 story is via another source but this is what the Nostalgia Forum excels in.
Question - do any Ford Mk IIs exist this side of the water or are all remaining chassis in the USA?
