August maintains top spot despite a poor GP by his standards. A 581 put him 26th for the week and let his rivals gain some ground. It's still a very healthy lead though.
Gold medal this week goes to SoapyD with 736pts moving him up 8 places to 14th. Strong performances from Vettel, Chandhok, Renault & the Force India engine gave a big score. Silver went to yicm who storms into 2nd place with a 734pts haul. He has climbed from 37th after Australia just showing that these gaps can be bridged. Keeping faith with Mark Webber and Red Bull has paid off for him. The final medal position went to TonyH29 who picks up his 2nd medal in a row (!!) following a silver in Barcelona. The combination of Webber & Alonso is showing that putting all your dosh into some big names at the expense of the rest doesn't mean you'll be feeding off the scraps. Tony moves into the top 6 with a 724pts score.
BOF (me) moved into the top 3 benefitting from very solid if unspectacular scores from all of my team. Of the other movers, Eau_Rouge moves a massive 9 places into 8th with good results from Vettel, Kubica & the Force India engine. Tamuff_Villa climbs back into the top 10 after a sole week outside it in 11th and as you can see, most of 11th thru 20th have all climbed up there from below, with people dropping down to facilitate them. Highest climber of the week was Costaz jumping 10 places into 27th thanks mainly to Adrian Sutil and the Toro Rosso Ferrari engine. Biggest fall goes to Makarias who dropped 20 places to 46th thanks to disastrous showings from Button, Williams, Sauber and pretty much all of his team. One to forget for him.
Fernando Alonso picked up massive points as a driver #2 or #4 thanks to starting at the back and moving up 18 places. Only 2 people benefitted from him being in of those positions. TonyH29 was one of them, the other was Pat Byrne who moved up 5 places to 26th and is making steady progress in the competition.
