Yes I was wondering if anybody has information on the 1977 Daytona 200 won by Steve Baker. Looking for entry list, complete results, and photographs. Also, are there any web sites that provide any information on AMA road races held in the 1970s, especially in 1977. Any info would be great on this particular event. Future thank you for future info.

Well , I didn't know until now that the '77 race was run as 2 legs . The first leg was won by Steve Baker , second was Kenny Roberts , third was Takazumi Katayama , fourth Greg Hansford , with Ron Haslam 13th . The second leg did not happen due to torrential rain . Steve won 19,000 US Dollars for his win , in 55 minutes . He also won the 250 race the previous day .
All taken from ' Motorcycle Racing ' April 1977 , hope this helps

What great International fields used to turn out for the 200 back then, I believe the 200 is now for Supersport600cc bikes!! & only North American continent riders race it now days! :-(
Surprised it's not covered by Eurosport 11 , then

The whole race scene here is pretty pathetic as far as I can see...even the classic stuff is pretty lame in comparison to Europe...I could probably win a race there as there are so many classes run in one I'm not sure the Daytona series bikes are even up to supersport spec and last year they ran the Buells at 1200 cc I'm rapidly giving up watching any racing on TV particularly when the GP2 is still billed as 250cc GP by The Speed Channel aka Redneckvision...tossers

As it happens David GP2 on the MotoGP bill IS worth watching, its turned out to be a great series/spectacle, shame MotoGP is crap.
But highly recommend watching the 2 series, great racing & 40 bikes, almost like the old days but without the cloud of blue smoke.

Just to show I'm not anti Moto GP I liked the V5 Honda and was looking forward to some exotic motors in that and they are all boring 4s again Now a nice 6 would be good wouldn't it?

LC racing was better So was the 400 cup A one make series of road based 4 strokes isn't interesting to me at the top level and it doesn't belong there It's being turned into F1 type crap with the rules already...and restricts development and progress in engine tech which I find interesting, not what go 'faster bits' have been given to who by the powers when a 'chosen' team emerges and the rest get fed up. Sorry but I like some variety in my racing
