Yes , a great painting , indeed , and well spotted on the white roundals , denoting a 750 , where as Andrew states a RG 500 ,

Yes I noticed that also, the shape of faring is 750 not 500 too.

Saw the painting on the stairs in the BRDC building on Saturday, cracking job in the flesh and a refreshing change to all the four wheeled pictures there, good though they are.

Brilliant Painting of Bazzer and Silverstone; Andrew. I do a bit myself, but I am not in your league.

I did this one of Jim Redman in gouach on the Honda Six at a show one weekend just from memory more or less without any reference photo to work from. When I had completed it, I asked Jim just to sign it for me as he was on our stand for most of the weekend - which he did as shown on the photo.

Jim decided to write on it:

'Painted by the great Jim Blanchard from memory in my presence at the Kent Show on the weekend of the 25th/26th September '99 - Jim Redman. (Not sure about the ‘great’ bit though… )

Do you find that doing something spontaneous like that is more fun Jim? :) That's some good recall there too mate  My wife is going to do some stained glass with different riders and she has already noticed the distinctive style of some of them :) :) :)

Yes, I did actually David. It gets a bit tedious working from photographs all the time, though this subject usually demands reference material. Though, I frequently start or finish paintings in public at a show or race meeting as a bit of a party piece and/or let someone have a go it themselves if they are inclined to.. :)

When I do retire proper, I think whatever I produce painting wise will be from my memory or life. I have had enough of working from photographs, and allow myself to be a bit more creative....

If it's for pleasure it must be different...I shall be painting on-site with the easel when we move..chuck it in the canoe with a few brushes, use the river water etc :)
Nice to get back to basics sometimes isn't it?
