During a recent promotional event in Moscow, city representatives are apparently to have said that talks with Bernie are "gathering pace".

http://en.espnf1.com...tory/23589.html

One source is quoted as saying "Hermann Tilke is to design a super-fast street circuit - it'll be like Monaco."

For the time being I think it's just false news brought on by the promotional event, but I can imagine a Moscow GP happening in the future, espcially if a deal Sochi doesn't come to fruition.

Is this BE's negotiating tactics where to stage the race and get most of of his suckers? He has to drop some current circuits, or expand the season. I will need to keep tab on "he said/she said, we are here and we are there"... Gee wizz; Athens, Moscow, Texas, NJ, SA, Argentina, what else did I forget?

Bernie´s currently also putting Monaco under pressure, dropping hints that he might drop the race....

So I think it´s just another round of adjusting prices. The (proposed) inflation of F1 circuits is going to be costly for the circuit owners.

The FIA have a clause whereby they can protect the historic races. Hopefully Jean Todt would utilise this if Monaco was ever threatened.

I presume that track isn't in a figure of eight, as interesting as that would be.

And Monaco isn't going anywhere, that's just the same Bernie talk as the circuit shortcuts.

It is. They'll run under the bridge on that long straight reaching 320 km/h, so it's a bit Suzuka.

Ah right I see. It looks better than Valencia at least.

As if only high-speed corners are challenging.

Looks a bit short though...

We'll probably have sub-1:15 laps and even reach the low 1:00s.

Why not, there's big money available in Russia and why go to Barcelona for the umpteenth time if there's an exciting weekend in Moscow beckoning.
I wouldn't mind it replacing Barcelona, Valencia or Turkey.

That layout actually looks awesome. A bit short indeed, but perfect for overtaking. It's like an 8-figure russian Norisring.

Street circuits tend to be far more difficult for overtaking eg Monaco, Valencia, Singapore.

That said I'd like to see Hungargorgargorgarboring disappear!

Yeah I like it, but I'm not sure how genuine it is. Its refreshing to see an uncluttered track-layout as opposed to Tilkes usual corner after corner efforts. We see so many of these proposed track lay-outs though. Off-topic but I wonder if we'll ever hear anything about the Rome street circuit again?

I believe that they're still cracking on with that - Bernie said it'll be about 2013 before it happens though, due to lack of space on the calendar. I'd don't see why it can't alternate with Valencia as the Euro GP.

The Grand Prix of the Balearic Islands in Majorca, for starters.

Please make it a super fast street circuit! Something like Toronto that indy races on at the weekend would be better just...longer. Whatever it is just no swirly bits.

Usually if the apex speed of a corner is less than 100mph then it's not considered challenging by anyone 'round here. Usually anyway. :)

itll be tricky, as the roads will probably be really bumpy for a f1 car, plus you get the tramline effect from the normal traffic, and the f1 cars will need to go across that... the location is really good too...

Of those only San Antonio has been contracted.

Judging by how the pitlane is on the bottom bit, i'd say the first corner is the right hander leading up to the tight hairpin on the left of the photo.

The track has two bridges, this is one of them.

Looks nice.

One thing that can (and probably will) destroy the project is the corruption of contractors and authorities.
Any big construction project that started in Moscow resulted in corruption and embezzlement.

I'm not sure if anyone's noticed, but having zoomed in on Google Maps, the front straight is currently a car park: http://maps.google.c...e...mp;t=h&z=17

Yeah I wouldn't say its a problem though as it leads straight onto the main road and is as wide if not wider than it. I measured the course in Google Earth and it is about 2.7miles long so with such a simple layout it will be a really short lap-time maybe just over a minute but it is a difference from the trend of more corners and longer lap-times on many modern tracks and it should have good overtaking points.

The layout picture are slightly inaccurate. Start-finish and box complex will the at main straight end (you can see large deconstruction trench from ex-"Russia" hotel, a place where pit complex and main grandstand will be possibly constructed). Whole project will cost from 70 to 100 million dollars. Information from Moscow government representative interview.

Should the track be too short, I reckon it could quite easily be made longer up to about 5.7 km:

Scenery looks very picturesque, but to build the pits you'd have to take down some buildings... and i don't think they'll do that just for a race. Then again, with the super wide roads they'll easily fit a lot of grandstands. Well thats if you look at every road apart from the pit straight, which is much too narrow and I'd doubt that they'd want to build over that park...

right AT the kremlin too. Then again monaco has the same dilemmas-its pretty insane how they do it...

Certainly will be an interesting track with a very unique atmosphere.

As i written before, pits will be in place where "Russia" hotel was some time ago. They also hope to host race in 2013, possibly in 2012

So what if the track is only in the low 1:00's. Would rather 80 laps of that than 49 of a Bahrain lap that takes 2:00
