I think he's talking about the width...

That is the distance from one side to the other, whether or not it will fit in the chassis from side to side.

I'm looking for the adaptor plate that fits the smaller 265mm/104 tooth flywheel as used in Formula Juniors with the starter on opposite side to the TC/Crossflow motor. Also needs to be thin enough fore/aft to fit the motor in the engine space. The adaptor I was offered I think was from  Lotus 22 which at over 3 inches was too wide.

3" sounds like it was too deep...

Width would relate to what I said, across the chassis.

Those Firestones are still mounted on the original mags!

We think that shot was taken at Watkins Glen (tag on the shorts).

This Light Car Club magazine shows Howard Friend in his Elfin Imp at Lakeland Hillclimb, near Lilydale. I met Howard about 20 years ago, when he had decided to resurrect his Cooper S that he had raced from new.

A recipe for disaster ! ........ blade of gearbox drops off from fatigue (off centre) ......... blade falls into crank sprocket ..... chain breaks ...... lots of bent valves ....... holes in combustion chambers and pistons !

I have seen it happen.

Not built to Lexus standards, Erol?

It should be dowelled to line up, surely...

Neither the front end of the jack shaft driven ones, nor the side mount ones are dowelled - it's a case adjust it if you need to - keep going til you get it right......

Seems fairly foolproof to me...

[Edit: so what's the trick Erol? If its not a trade secret, that is :) ]
