I guess some of you may wonder why there is a heading for this in the motorcycle forum when it was a car race meeting?
Well it was but there was a lot of motorcycle interest! First and foremost they ran a parade on both days (although the Sunday event was red flagged for some reason) for "post historic" and Historic Grand Prix machines . Granty, John Cooper, Ron Chandler and Stan Woods were amongst the riders turning out and there were some interesting machines too. I think this was organised by the CMCRC.

I will post some photos here (when I can get my head around the process) but Snett will have some on his F*c*book page at some time. For Daisy there were 2 250cc Camp Suzukis both in Heron Colours, Granty rode on RG500 on Saturday as did Stan Woods. Both Chandler and Moon eyes were on ex-works BSA or Triumph Triples.

The original TZ250cc Yamaha ridden by Kenny Roberts was also on display together with an original RG500 ridden by Randy Mamola (the latter didn't get out on the track) there was a Luchinelli liveried RG500 (not sure if that was a copy) but the Millar Honda of Jeremy McWilliams was original. There were a couple of XR69 Suxukis with Maria Costello abroad 1 of them

A pot pouri of other machinery was also on display including an egli-vincent and an immaculate Seeley Weslake. Howard Lees (RIP) original Team Bike Honda a Benelli 6 and a number of Yamahas + Big Fours of several eras. A Yamsel caught our eye, as did a special 250cc Armstrong. It was also fantastic to see the origianal Len Manchester Yam 750 as ridden by Kieth Huewen - subject to some discussion on previous threads, this seems to have come home following a sojourn to Australia!

Also of interest was a Classic Motorcycle Sprint demonstartion. A Nitrous Oxide Harley Davidson was the star and what a noise and a lump, but there was a very standard looking but not exactly standard 850 Guzzi and a 350cc Supercharged Triumph but Norton framed machine that just had to be heard. Some really old machinery to be looked at and a couple of very special Yamaha 2 strokes

Also on display was the "angelic Bulldog" attempting to beat the Land speed record and a few cuious looking machines that resembed "Quasars" remember them?

There was a display and some racing for De dion tricycles from the early 20th century and before!

Finally and believe it, or not, the LC club had a display of a few road LCs - just down my street. Most impressive was a very original RD350LC (mk 1 "W" reg'd) with just a "bellypan" = non-standard and it was totally immaculate. Guess I couldn't resist spending 1/2 hour or so to discuss elsees with a local to me guy!

Pleased that you enjoyed the weekend, It was the CRMC who put the show on, we were invited with the veiw that we may be asked to do some racing there next year which would include sidecars. The red flag on Sunday was due to one of our riders loosing the front on what was a very dirty track, unfortunatly leaving the rider behind with no where to go. So Steve (Gremlin) Walls ended up with a brocken shoulder, a mashed upper arm and bruising from head to toe. He has been released from Northampton Hospital and is due in to Stafford on Monday, this should allow time for the bruising to go down so they can have a closer look as to what needs doing to try and repair his arm....

Apart from that we had a very successful weekend and generated a lot of interest in what was a predominantly a car crowd. This year the club is growing in stature and we have the honour of re-opening Doninton Park on the 13th - 15th August, so if you haven't been to a Classic Meeting before come along, bring ear plugs and be prepared to be blown away by some very fast and furious racing. Full details on the web site www.crmc.co.uk

Finally everyone from the club wishes Steve a speedy recovery - Get well soon mate......
